Ethics in Nursing for Mental Health Patients

Nurses have a key role in the promotion of health care provision in ourthe society. In providing these services to the patients, the nurses have to deal with a wide range of ethical challenges in their day-to-day work. This is usually the case for the mental health nurses, whoseo are role is to constantly dealing with patients affected by all matters of severe mental health issues, some quite severe. The mental health nurses have to learn how to deal with these ethical issues wht ethical issues—you should name them here—then you will go into more detail in later sections. given that they have the power and are expected to control ?? the mental health patients. Such a role tends to be morally distressing for the nurses (Benbow et al. 2017). Working with mental health patients requires that the nurses understand their needs clearly, in order to maintain open and effective communication with them, which in turn facilitates the attainment of the desired objectives in providing mental health care. This section is to describe the topic of mental health care—how big of a problem is it? What are the barriers to receiving care for mental health issues? This is more for the section about how it relates to health care and what the ethical dilemmas are.One of the key ethical issue that the mental health nurses have to deal with pertains to maintaining respect for the fundamental human rights of their patients by ensuring that the rights and dignity of these patients is protected. This is mainly because some of the patients may not be in a position to engage in a clear and open communication in order to provide consent for the medical treatment that they obtain (Townsend & Morgan, 2017). While carrying out their duties, the mental health nurses understand that they have a social responsibility in as much as they are expected to respect the rights of the patients that they are required to care for. In some cases, the nurses may have to use coercion when dealing with mental health patients, something that they are required to be sensitive in order to satisfy the needs of these patients seeking mental health services (Smith, 2017). As such, observing ethical practices ensures that more effective nursing practices can be adopted and enhance the quality of care provided to the patients.
