In this experiment we were introduced to the concepts of density, specific weight, and specific gravity. We need to find the density, specific gravity, and specific weight of solid object and liquids. This can be accomplished by mass of the objects for example water or solid object and size measurements. Then divide their mass by gravity and that gives us density. With this information we can compare their specific weight or even their specific gravity. Water is the main thing that we can compare the entire thing because with the density of water we can get the specific weight and go backwards to get what we need. Also, when dividing the density of an object by the density of water will tell us if the object will sink or float in water. By this experiment we can calculate the density and if the density is bigger than water the object is heavy and it will sink. Also, if the density is less than water density then the object will float. So, the density can tell us that no matter the size of the object is, if its density is less than the density of water then it will float. Also with specific weight and specific gravity we compare the materials to water and with the density of water or specific weight of water we can get the materials specific gravity or density. We can go back and forth with these three concepts once we measure and record the required data.
To determine the specific weight and density and calculate the specific gravity of various liquids and solid objects, and to understand these quantitative properties of the studied materials through simple measurements of weight or mass and size or volume, as well as the interrelationships among these properties.
