Introduction, Business Requirements, and Competitors and Technology
E-commerce has become a famous model used by many businesses to conduct their transaction and activities in recent years. Therefore, companies are trying to integrate the use of e-commerce in doing businesses for them not to be left out in their respective industries. E-commerce can be defined as the use of electronic media to buy and sell products by organizations and consumers. Therefore, e-commerce involves doing business online (Huantg & Benyoucef, 2013). The idea of e-commerce can, therefore, can be used by companies that use the brick and mortar model in their activities. Integrating e-commerce thus helps in increasing the returns in the form of revenues and also increased consumer base for the success of the organization. Brick and mortar businesses conduct face to face business activities and thus contain stores and offices where they meet and interact with consumers and sell products (Huang et al. 2014). For instance, the manager deals with the sale of sports shoes through various stores across the country. The store is trying to solve the problem of providing comfortable sports shoes at affordable prices, thus targeting the upcoming athletes as well as school-going children or students. The business wants to ensure that every individual who is interested in owning sports shoes would afford them and have easy access to them when they need them. The owner of the rubber shoes intends to increase the customer base to reach the target of increasing revenues, hence the need for integrating e-commerce in the business model rather than using stores to sell the products. For successful integration of e-commerce, the owner needs to adopt some technologies to assist in solving the consumer needs via electronic media.
The owner of the store thus needs to adopt the following technologies to achieve this goal of revenue increase online successfully. The entity needs to develop a mobile application (App) that would help in accessing the entity’s information and a series of activities and also the use of emails in distributing information. An email is a form of technology used by most businesses to contact their online consumers directly and remind them of the offers available in the market. Besides, email can also be used by the organization to inform the consumers of the latest developments of activities regarding the products, which are the sports shoes.
Business Requirements
The business needs to fulfill its goals and objectives of providing comfortable food ware at an affordable price. The store also aims at increasing its revenues through the means of e-commerce. Thus, to achieve the objectives, the entity needs to fulfill some requirements to achieve the goals and reap the results of achieving the targets put in place. Integrating the new technology would help in easing the access to materials and also meeting the goals. I satisfying the above objective, the project requires that the relevant technologies mentioned above (Mobile application and email) are put in place that would assist in implementing the idea of e-commerce.
The desired result is that through e-commerce, the business will be able to interact with more consumers online who are unable to access the physical stores. The interaction thus would enhance more trade transactions. The entity would also be able to meet suppliers online who would provide them with comfortable shoes at a lower price than they would still resell and gain more profit revenues. The result would mean the expansion of the entity and also increased business activities without many costs. The new technology would ease digital trading (online trading), which is e-commerce. E-commerce would save on overhead costs incurred in the numerous stores and thereby saving more money revenues to be used.
The two technologies, mobile application, and email would require the use of electronic communication gadgets to apply them both online and offline. The devices would include mobile phones, laptops, and computers and also other electronic devices that would enhance information sharing (Huang & Benyoucef, 2013).
Competitors and Technology
Several competitors operating in the same industry have integrated technology in their systems. Example of such institutions includes; Nike and Puma. The two institutions have specialized in using technologies that enhance trade in their brands.
Technology One (Use of Mobile App)
Puma, as a well-established competitor in this business, has managed to use a mobile app that would help in purchasing their products. The app also advises on other means of using the shoes and thus has increased the turnover of sales in this industry.
Technology Two (Use of Email)
Nike is one of the best producers and sellers of sports shoes globally. Nike has integrated the use of emails to contact its customers continuously. The idea of emails has helped to keep consumers informed, thus being updated on the recent development in the foot ware brand.
The two companies are massively benefiting from the use of the two technologies, especially Nike, as a brand. The emails they send have helped their consumers to change their foot wares regularly. Thus, the organization has gained more loyal consumers who bring more revenue to the company. The two technologies can be used by the organization in their system, therefore, to increase sales, save marketing costs and other costs of renting stores. Hence, the technological idea would assist the small organization to save more and earn more.
