Interview Transcript Analysis
The interview transcript that I choose was about the students and the associate head of the Mechanical Engineering department. The Student was the Interviewer, while the Associate Head of Mechanical Engineering was the Interviewee. The interview setting happens in the office of the mechanical engineering professor on Wednesday afternoon. The student wanted to ask a few things concerning the state of the situations that happens in the Mechanical Engineering department. The interview transcript will mean to analyze the roles of the head of the mechanical engineer.
Question Used in the Analysis Process
The questions used in the interview analysis process in addressing the nature of the interview include.
1. What exactly do you want to find out?
This question is meant to answer the sole purpose of the interview between the student and the mechanical engineer. While analyzing the interview, this question will help me explore what I will find out during the conversation between the interviewer and the Interviewee. In this section, I will identify whether specific changes can be made in the interview transcript. In case I see any development opportunity that can be addressed in the interview, I will analyze and come up with a better solution. The next step is to analyze the goals and decision-making strategies that will be achieved from the interview transcript. Analysis of the objective of the interview transcript will help me critically analyze the interview and come up with a proper and substantial-conclusion concerning both parties involved. The outcome of the analysis that I will deem as success will be identified while undergoing through interview transcript between the student and the mechanical engineer. The essential data questions play a crucial role in guiding us in seeking the answers to the purpose of the interview.
2. What Standard KPI will use to help?
The KPI standards will help users analyze whether the interview session has met the required protocols for a successful interview transcript. For example, in this case, the KPI questions that are expected include what, where, and when. In this question, the student will be able to quantify a particular quantity that can be used in the sampling of portions in the study.
3. Where will the data come from?
This question plays an essential role in the interview transcript scenario because it is meant to enlighten the readers to understand where the data source will be derived from in the conversation. After reading the interview conversation, all the data points will be analyzed effectively, and pertinent findings on the locations they are derived from will be assessed. Whether the Interviewee has all the relevant data to preset during the interview will also be analyzed. The source of the data used in the discussion will help the reader fully understand the nature of the conversation used in this scenario in place.
4. Which scales apply in your different datasets?
The measurements will be taken in analyzing various variables that will affect the statistical techniques that will be applied in the analysis. The Nominal, Ordinal, Interval, and ratio measurements will be taken while analyzing the datasets used during the interview.
5. How can data quality be ensured?
During the interview, conversation data quality is a fundamental tool for ensuring stable and practical information. Information collected from different sources can be good or bad depending on the subject of discussion. All the references provided by both parties can be essential and substantive in analyzing the data collection method. Data quality can be ensured through effective organizing and cleaning the data, increasing the time spent in collecting, refining, and mining the data. Following the above criteria, a particular subject will be able to analyze the sources used in specific data.
Steps to follow in analyzing the Interview Transcript.
During qualitative analysis, thematic content analysis is believed to be the most common and flexible method to be used during an interview transcript analysis structure. The technique is believed to be transparent, verifiable, and traceable than most of the methods used in data analysis.
1.Read the transcript
The first step is to read through the interview transcript between the student and the mechanical engineer. After perusing through the conversations, specific common themes will pop out, which will be helpful in the analysis. The main topics will be analyzed, which will be beneficial in the final summation of the data collected.
2. Annotation of the Transcript
The annotation is where all the relevant sentences, phrases, and codes will be labeled with respective codes. The use of these codes will help identify essential qualitative research data in the interview sessions. The labeling process will help create fundamental concepts, opinions, differences, and techniques that can be used in the analysis. Annotation, therefore, will help in organizing the data disseminations used in interview analysis.
3. Conceptualization of the Data
The conceptualization of data is when the data is aligned with essential themes and relevant topics before it is published. The following reviews will be analyzed during the initial evaluation of the transcripts. The process of grouping different categories and subcategories of codes will help in creating an effective code system. During this process, you may choose to eliminate or combine specific codes rather than using them during the analysis. The principles you feel are relevant to the research will be kept during the conceptualization of data.
4. Segment the Data
Segmentation is the process where positioning and connection of different categories of data will be aligned. The process helps an individual in establishing the bulkiness of the data more cohesively. During the interview transcript conversation, the information collected will be labeled then a description will then follow concerning the connection between the data segmentations.
5. Analyzing the Segments
In this section, all the essential data will be analyzed. The first step is to determine whether there are specific hierarchical categories and then an important step other than the other. At this step, qualitative data will be aligned together with the qualitative information you gathered from the interview.
6. Write Results
After the analysis of the information gathered has been completed, you will be able to transition your findings into the actual body of the content analyzed in the interview session. You will use your insights in answering specific key questions and supporting them with relevant objectives during the creation of verifying theories. All the relevant categories that will be used in the analysis will be described using a neutral and objective tone. However, the analysis content will be derived from the data research that has been created in this interview conversation.
Results of the Analysis Reports
After the collection of the relevant data in an interview session, the results of the analysis will be reported through the use of the following steps.
i. Familiarization of the data: The data that is collected in the interview should clearly be understood by the perception of both the interviewer and the Interviewee. After proper familiarization is done, the codes will be assigned to effectively describe the content.
ii. Assigning the Preliminary Codes to the data: The second step is to assign preliminary codes to specific data that will help during the description of content. Therefore, the primary codes will be used in analyzing the contents used in the interview analysis.
iii. Searching of Patterns and Codes Across the Interview Conversation: During the interview conversation process, the interviewee and interviewer patterns and themes will effectively be analyzed to ensure that different articles and codes are explored during the interview sessions.
iv. Review Themes: All the themes used in the interview will be reviewed to allow proper delivery of the data content used.
V. The theme names will be defined and Produce your Report.
The questions asked by the Interviewers asked to affect the nature of the Response?
During this interview, the interviewer's questions play a role in transforming the nature of the Response of the Interviewee from one perspective to another. The interviewer's questions were friendly. This allows the Interviewee to be free and relaxed while providing his answers during the interview sessions. The questions were verifiable experience questions; the questions require a good experience from the interviewee profession during the interview session. The third step of the question was an opinion-based approach, allowing the Interviewee to provide his opinion, view, and idea on a particular question. The competency approach was also offered a move that allows the Interviewee to showcase his competency in a specific field of practice without fear or favor.
Additional Questions asked during an Interview.
The student carried a very professional and presentable interview session with the Mechanical engineer; however, I would have asked the key mechanical engineer the following question while given such an opportunity.
i. Has your role changed since you are recruited into this organization?
ii. What did you do before you are recruited for this position?
iii. Why did you choose this company?
vi. What is your favorite experience in working for this company?
v. What type of skill is the team missing that you are searching for?
vi. What Is the most significant challenge that an individual in your position will face?
vii. what sort of budget that will I be working with while in your position?
viii. Is this a new role created?
The objectivity of an Interview Session
While conducting an interview, the objectivity of the discussion always stands out. During qualitative analysis, thematic content analysis is believed to be the most common and flexible method to be used during an interview transcript analysis structure. The technique is believed to be transparent, verifiable, and traceable than most of the methods used in data. In the student and mechanical engineer interview session, my objectivity will be in finding out the following.
i. What can be offered (Skills, essential, abilities, and knowledge)
ii. Who you are (personality, interest, and character)
iii. Why you need to be hired.
Know yourself before participating in the interview session.
The job experience that is relevant to this job opportunity.
What did I gain from the interview session?
Representation and Subjectivity
The assumptions I developed in the representation and subjectivity are between the Interviewee and interviewer's behavior during the conversation.
I. The nature of the questions asked by the Interviewee must be friendly.
ii. The interview session should be timely.
iii. Assigning of the Preliminary Codes to the data.
iv. Searching of Patterns and Codes across the Interview Conversation
v. the third step of the question was an opinion-based approach, allowing the Interviewee to provide his opinion, view, and particular idea question. The competency approach was also provided a move that allows the Interviewee to showcase his competency in a particular field of practice without fear or favor.
