Key Findings of the Interview
I selected the community of Mesa County, Colorado, as the community of my interest. I interacted with the staff at the community health care centre and performed community assessment through the data available at the community centre. I also took help from a senior staff nurse at the community centre. She had been serving in St Mary`s Medical Center for four years. I interviewed her and gathered the information for the assessment and analysis of the community health. She said that the most common health problems in that community were obesity, uncontrolled pregnancies in teen girls and mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and suicides. Half of the population in Mesa County thinks that the health facilities are sufficient to meet their needs. In the past 12 months, it was observed that 1 in 4 individuals did not visit any health care provider. As a health care provider, Windy thinks of health as a holistic approach that includes both the treatment and prevention of disease. She considers health promotion and prevention are more significant than focusing on disease treatment only. The immunization rate of Mesa County is 4/10. It was analyzed that deaths due to substance abuse and suicidal rate increases by 30% in 2016, and the leading cause of deaths are heart diseases. The WeCan program is conducted in the community that offers weekly sessions for families to learn healthy habits.
