Interview Paper Rubric (1)

Submit Assignment

You will meet in-person with an individual who has recently immigrated to the United States and conduct an interview with them. For this assignment, you will compare and contrast your own subjective cultural food practices with those of a recent immigrant to the U.S. and present your assessments/conclusions about this comparison/contrast. You will also offer your ideas about how these contrasts may influence plausible limitations or constraints on creating comprehensive, cross-cultural nutrition directives.

The focus of this paper should be to understand how the interviewee has transitioned to life in the U.S., what dietary changes they may have made by choice or circumstances, as well as, the availability or lack of their traditional foods while here; and how they have kept and/or altered traditions and cultural practices surrounding food while in the United States. The majority of the paper needs to focus on the interviewee's cultural perceptions and transitions as they relate to food. Questions should be prepared ahead of time to facilitate a meaningful conversation. Think about the topics covered so far in class when formulating your questions.

The paper should be 4-5 pages, size 12 font, double-spaced, and uploaded as a .doc, .docx, or .pdf. In addition to the paper, you need to submit a copy of the questions you prepared prior to the interview. Specific grading criteria are listed in the rubric below. Be sure to look at the additional details in the rubric for all points that need to be included in your paper.

Follow the rubric and have a great conversation!
