Interview Assignment Directions

Objective:

1. Perform and interview of a healthcare professional in order to demonstrate the ability to

communicate medical terminology at the professional level.

Directions:

1. The healthcare professional must be currently practicing/licensed and not have relation to you.

2. Design a word processing document containing the information from your interview. Please make

sure the content is logical and organized. Please list question, then answer. This assignment is not to

be written in term paper format. The document should include:

a. Why you picked person/profession

b. Name and title of the person being interviewed

c. Completed questionnaire 1 - 13

d. Ask a few extra related questions that are not in the interview questionnaire

e. Information that surprised you the most

3. Complete the Interview Table of all medical terms (minimum of 10 terms) discussed in your

interview. If you did not find at least ten terms from the discussion with a healthcare professional, it

means the interview was not in depth.

4. Your complete write-up will include:

a. Title page

b. Typed interview

c. Typed interview table

Questions:

1. Name and title of person being interviewed.

2. Describe a typical workday.

3. On average, how many patients do you see in a typical day?

4. How well did the education you received prepare you for this job?

5. How long did it take you to feel comfortable as a practitioner?

6. How important is medical terminology in your field?

7. If given a chance, would you change your career? If so, why?

8. What is the most rewarding part of your job? Most challenging?

9. Thinking back to a person that you thought was great at this profession, what were the

characteristics that made them great?

11. What sort of volunteer/job experiences did you participate in during your undergraduate years?

12. What advice would you give to a student hoping to follow in your footsteps?

13. How do you feel your career impacts your personal life? (i.e. friends and family)
