What is the biggest challenge as a manager and consultant?

The biggest challenge would be balancing both roles. It is hard to switch back and forth between the two positions at times.

How do you comment on the company atmosphere and culture?

I always try to instill in my employees that we are a team. Our company may be small, but we need to help each other out when possible. This has created a friendly atmosphere, a healthy culture and led to a positive working environment.

As a manager, how do you balance the relationship between you and employees?

This is a delicate balance. I try to maintain a mutual level of respect between myself and my employees. I can joke around and keep things lighthearted, and at the same time, they know they can come to me if they have any difficulty with problems. By doing this, it creates more willingness on both ends to offer support, perform well and motivates and rewards employees, making them feel appreciated for the work they do. I feel that this is key to a close, efficient team.

How did you promote from consultant to manager?

Honestly, I would have to say timing was a main factor. I was hired on for a different position and after my probation period was promoted to manager. During that period, I was able to show that my dedication to work and ethic were both qualities that made for a good leadership role model.

What qualities should a good leader own?

I think some of the most important qualities a good leader should own are dependability, integrity and communication. For me, having a good communication with my team is especially important. I want them to feel that they can come to me with anything, good or bad.
