Interview 1 : Abdurhaman

1-.    What resources are you aware of that the LCB offers? //@/!

I am aware of the tutoring resources that LCB offers and the advising office. I believe that it is the only two resources that I am aware of.

a. Have you heard from any other students about LCB resources?

I have so many friends who studies at LCB, but I have not heard about any other resources.

b. Do you think the resources provided by LCB are actually beneficial to first-generation students?

No, because first-generation students are not fully aware of the all resources that LCB offers.

2.    Have you noticed a difference in your experiences compared to other students you might know? @!++

Yes, I noticed that some of my friends in the LCB struggles with some classes and they do not know that there is a tutoring center that they can help with these classes.

3.    What are your parents experiences with the education system? //@!

They did not get the chance to go to a college. They just finished their high school.

.                 4.     How much did your parents influence you with your educational experience?

They have a great influence on my experience. They were the one who told about studying abroad. I was not thinking of studying abroad because the cost is too high However they were mange to help me get a scholarship.

4.    What type of resources would you like to have access to as a first generation student?/ /@!

I think having a web page for first generation student were they can find the resources that they did not aware of.

Interview 2: Khaled  

1.    What resources are you aware of that the LCB offers? //@/!

I know that the LCB offer labs with computer access and small study rooms.

a. Have you heard from any other students about LCB resources?

Not really. I had to go and discover what is in there!

b. Do you think the resources provided by LCB are actually beneficial to first-generation students?

Yes! I do providing computer access and small rooms for meeting is super helpful! They facilitate group work and provide a good study environment for students. In addition, It provide a venue to meet and interact with different students.

2.    Have you noticed a difference in your experiences compared to other students you might know? @!++

In a way! Connection is very important to create a healthy learning environment and to be introduced to the different facilities that are offered by the school.

3.    What are your parents’ experiences with the education system? //@!

They do not have a deep understanding about the education system here in the US. They have some expectation from my cousins who came and studied here!

.             How much did your parents influence you with your educational experience?

They provided me with general guidelines on how to choose the field I want to study in and the place where I want to gain my education from! The opened my mind to the idea of considering doing what I really enjoy and to think about the potential job opportunities in the future!

4.    What type of resources would you like to have access to as a first generation student?/ /@!

More opportunity to communicate with my fellow students and more common area within the building where I get the chance to interact with different students. A library that is for the business school would be helpful!

Interview 3: Abdullah

1.    What resources are you aware of that the LCB offers? //@/!

Career Services, and advising

a. Have you heard from any other students about LCB resources?

I heard from my friend that the LCB has a career services

b. Do you think the resources provided by LCB are actually beneficial to first-generation students?

I don’t think the resources provided are beneficial enough.  As first-generation student it was hard for me to know what the LCB offers, I was not aware of the resources that they have until someone told  

Me.

2.    Have you noticed a difference in your experiences compared to other students you might know? @!++

I did not notice any difference

3.    What are your parents’ experiences with the education system? //@!

My father graduated with bachelor degree of engineering.

They are not aware of the education system in the us

.             How much did your parents influence you with your educational experience?

There was lots of positive influence on my experience and choosing my major.

4.    What type of resources would you like to have access to as a first generation student?/ /@!

A community for first generation can talk and express their issue, in order to have solutions.

Interview 4: Hamad

1.    What resources are you aware of that the LCB offers? //@/!

I know that the LCB have Career Fair and advising offices

a. Have you heard from any other students about LCB resources?

No, I have not. I received an e-mile from the LCB about  Business careers events.

b. Do you think the resources provided by LCB are actually beneficial to first-generation students?

Yes, In a way, I think the reassures that LCB offers aim to serve everyone. it does not aim for specific group. As a first-generation student I need to spend the time and effort to know these resources and how to benefit from them.

2.    Have you noticed a difference in your experiences compared to other students you might know? @!++

Yes, I have less experience than those who is non first generation. In the orientation day I met with a someone he was aware of most the resources they talk about. It was easy for him to find everything he need. Where I was stressed and could not focus on some of what they saod.

3.    What are your parents experiences with the education system? //@!

My parents have a general idea about the education system. Both never went to collage in the us.

.             How much did your parents influence you with your educational experience?

I am the oldest among my brothers and I got the felling that my parents want me to go to college and graduate from college. They make me to choose the major and supported me.

4.    What type of resources would you like to have access to as a first generation student?/ /@
