INTERPERSONAL VIOLENCE 1

INTERPERSONAL VIOLENCE 2

What efficacy issues should counselors analyze when identifying possible community resources for the prevention of interpersonal violence?

There are several efficacy issues that counselors analyze when identifying the possible community resources for the prevention of interpersonal violence. As stated by Edwards et al (2014), a counselor needs to acknowledge that the intervention is a collective effort that requires a group of people instead of an individual. The counselor also needs to know that the approach is an action-oriented whereby the community can take actions to prevent, address or end interpersonal violence. Additionally, the counselor needs to appreciate that the preventive measures are community-based and it involves the joint effort of family, neighbors, friends, community members or co-workers instead of the police, social services or any government institution (Edwards, et al. 2014).

Furthermore, any preventive measures proposed need to be coordinative. The aim is to ensure that the intervention approach links the actions of people with the objective of gaining the same goal. The idea provides that individual efforts are geared to a common purpose. Another issue to be considered is how the prevention method can be holistic. The approach ensures that any preventive measure serves to the benefit of those harmed, the community members at large and those individuals who cause harm. Finally, any precautionary measure postulated needs to focus on those affected by the violence to change. The aim is to focus on individuals affected by the violence to come up with new skills, ways, and insights to develop a solution to violence.
