Elements of interpersonal communication

In interpersonal communication, there are communicators and they are engaged in the communication process. This also involves the different roles that the sender and receiver of the messages are doing. It involves the exchange of the message and the non-verbal communication even if there are no words used. A message is also another component of the interpersonal communication. This involves the signals or the words, gestures and other non-verbal means of communication. The channel of communications is also important and this is the physical means. That is the message sent from one person to the other face to face. We also have the use of phones, video calls, and chats as channels of communication. “We have realized that noise is also considered a component of interpersonal communication and it involves the disruption and distortion (Wood, 2015)”. Disruption and distortion hinders the message to flow, as it should.

Socio-culture, language, and physical are what noise consists of. Feedback is also another form of interpersonal communication. It is the spontaneous reaction, which the reception of the messages is taken in. The sender is able to know that the messages are taken in. It can also show how the messages were interrupted before it was received. Feedback can be in form of words or reactions based on the message sent. “Interpersonal communication is important to various groups or individuals as it makes sure that relationships are maintained (Berger, 2014).”
