My college coursework in sport management, leadership, and communication has directly supported my internship experience with C&J Officials. Classes focused on organizational behavior, event management, and professional development have helped me understand the importance of setting clear professional goals, maintaining accountability, and operating within a structured system. Learning how to set professional goals to advance in my careers such as improving communication, strengthening time management, and building industry relationships has allowed me to approach my internship with purpose and direction. The administrative and scheduling responsibilities I assist with reflect many of the principles discussed in class, including strategic planning, professionalism, and maintaining a standard of excellence in service delivery.
One noteworthy role I have taken part in during my internship has been assisting with the coordination and support of officials during tournaments. This experience allowed me to observe firsthand how assignments are managed, how last-minute changes are handled, and how communication between officials and event organizers is maintained. Being involved in both the operational and on-court aspects of officiating has given me a unique perspective on the level of preparation, organization, and leadership required to ensure events run smoothly and uphold the integrity of competition.
My career goal is to continue growing within the sports industry, particularly in coaching and sport administration. I aspire to combine my leadership experience with strong organizational and management skills to make a meaningful impact on athletic programs while promoting professionalism, structure, and excellence in competitive sports.
