4. Scroll down to the Limit your results box and check the boxes under Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Articles and Full Text.  This will ensure that you are only directed to scholarly articles, and only articles for which the full text is available online.  You may want to download a .pdf of each source. In the Published Date box, enter the current month and year in the boxes on the right, then subtract five years, and put that month and year in the left two boxes.  This will ensure that your sources are timely (limited to those that were published within the past five years.)

5. Scroll back up the search boxes and enter a phrase that will be used to search for scholarly articles on your topic.  Notice that you can search for multiple phrases/words, and that you can use AND and OR to limit your searches. If you have trouble deciding what to type in the boxes or need other help using the OCLS search engine, please contact the OCLS librarians at 800-521-1848.

6. Use the search engine to find at least seven sources for your paper.  If you are unable to find at least seven sources, even after seeking help from the OCLS librarians, you may need to change your topic. If this is the case, you will need to email your instructor immediately to request approval of your new topic.
