The research essay should be 6 to 8 pages and will examine the positive and negative impact of global capitalism upon a non-American group of people. The group of people may be a nation or a society, but the paper will be better and more effective if focused on a smaller group perhaps based upon ethnicity, gender, class, occupation, etc.

The essay should include an evaluation of evidence along with a clear recommendation, with reasoned justification, of what this group should do given your careful research and analysis. The essay must be written entirely in third person, have a clear thesis and sustained argument that evidences critical thought. A minimum of 5 reliable sources of which 3 must be academic sources.

Purpose:

An analysis of economic impacts on a non-American group of people.

Objective:

To create sound, plausible, well-reasoned arguments and a reasoned justification or solution.

Assessment based upon:

·  Well-crafted arguments

·  Solid evidence

·  Convincing examples

·  Grammar and mechanics

·  Sources and citations

Requirements:

·  Third-person

·  6-8 pages

·  Minimum of 5 sources, 3 of which must be academic sources

·  Chicago Style (i.e. Turabian) citations

·  Works cited bibliography (annotated bibliography not required for the final essay)

Sources and Citations:

·  Research papers require a minimum of 5 sources, 3 of which must qualify as academic sources.

·  Wikipedia cannot be used as a source.

·  The paper must be 6-8 pages in length (no more, no less) and must adhere to

Chicago-style, (i.e Turabian) format.

·  Proper citations include a formal works cited bibliography page (annotated

bibliographies are not required for the final essay)

·  Formal citations in the body of the paper indicating all source material used.

·  Not properly citing research material is a form of plagiarism, one that is not

tolerated.

·  Not properly citing one’s sources can easily result in a failing grade.

Formatting:

·  To be clear, “6 to 8 pages” means 6 to 8 pages of text; that is to say the length does not include a title page images, figures, tables, citations or works cited.

·  It assumes 1 inch margins on top, bottom, right and left sides.

·  It also assumes double-spaced Calibri 11; Time Roman 12; or Arial 10.

·  The essay must be complete! For example, a 4 page essay is only 75% of the

minimum and therefore can only receive a C (75/100).
