 Tips for Assessment 2

Many students chose to use PowerPoint for this assessment to make it more creative. This is a great idea but there are a few things to remember when doing so.

· All the information for the assessment must be present on the slides themselves and not in speaker notes. Remember, this is a written update - a handout- that staff will be reading. You will not be verbally presenting this so everything must be on the update itself.

· If you use PowerPoint, you will be printing out your slides. Therefore, you many use up to 8 slides total as you can easily print 4 slides per page for your final update production. Knowing this will help you to get all your information on the slides!

PowerPoint is an option here, not a requirement. Microsoft Word documents are very acceptable and can be very creative by using engaging writing techniques. In other words, you do not have to use PowerPoint to present a wonderful staff update. Use what you are comfortable with!

This is an excellent definition of nursing informatics and the role of the nurse informaticist. This role is becoming more popular in health care organizations to improve patient care outcomes and staff/patient satisfaction. Would you agree?

What does the literature say about this?

COMMENTS:

You applied APA formatting to and references incorrectly. Further there are many sections where no citations are provided. 

All information, ideas and concepts found in any source must be cited even when you have put these pieces of information in your own words. Only your own original ideas do not need citations.

Paraphrased citations do not need a page number, though you can include one if you wish.

A page number (for a journal article or book) or paragraph number (in the case of a website) must be included in the citation when a direct quotation is used.

Remember, your administration is going to want to be sure that your information is correct and evidence-based or they will not accept your proposal.

References

It is an APA standard that journal titles and the volume number should be in italics.

Journal articles should not have all words capitalized but journal titles should.
