Instructions for Reading Reactions

As mentioned in your syllabus, there will be five Reading Reactions due on the dates specified in

the class schedule (9/20, 9/29, 10/16, 11/8, 12/8), making up 20% of your final class grade (4%

each). These are meant to allow you to react to particular sociological readings without the formal

limitations of "scholarly writing." You can find the readings you need to complete your reactions

on D2L under “Content” (subheading: “Readings for Reading Reactions”).

Reflexive Reading Reactions should be at least three typewritten (double-spaced) pages, and

should include a short summary of the reading, followed by your thoughtful reaction. In your

reaction, you can include any comments you like regarding the reading, but you are encouraged to

make some connections with material in the textbook.

Reading Reactions can be submitted via the “Dropbox” function on D2L.

Submit Reading Reaction #1 by September, 20 (Dropbox closes at 11:30 pm).

Submit Reading Reaction #2 by September, 29 (Dropbox closes at 11:30 pm).

Submit Reading Reaction #3 by October, 16 (Dropbox closes at 11:30 pm).

Submit Reading Reaction #4 by November, 8 (Dropbox closes at 11:30 pm).
