(4.3) Instructions

Think about all the ways in which diversity – having variety – is important.

There are two goals of this activity: Demonstrate the significance of your global wicked

problem, and explore reasons for including cultural diversity as an important

consideration when solving the global problem you have identified. It is important to

pause here to consider your personal experience with—or study—diverse cultures and

contemplate how personal biases, emotions, and stereotypes can affect the way cultural

issues may be perceived.

You will want to think about the following questions:

● Why is my global problem important? How does it impact people world-wide? ● What IS cultural diversity and why is cultural diversity important when thinking

about my global problem?

● How does cultural diversity change or influence the problem I want to solve? ● From a cultural diversity perspective, what issues need to be considered or

looked at more thoroughly?

There is a rich supply of research that exists surrounding cultural diversity and its role in problem-solving, innovation, and worldwide initiatives. Find two different credible sources (peer-reviewed research articles are ideal) about the the significance of your global problem, and an additional two different credible sources about the importance of cultural diversity as it relates to the global problem you have identified. For each source:

1. Explain what the article contributes to your knowledge about the problem.

2. In your explanation of each, include explicit information about the role of

cultural diversity in your problem.

3. Be sure to cite and reference your sources properly in APA format

4. (Links to an external site.)

5. .

Remember to review any feedback you received on your M4.1 Challenge and incorporate

it as appropriate here.

(4.1 Questionare/Challenge)

1. What is the contemporary global issue or problem (social, cultural, or environmental) you intend to research? Your topic must be grounded in contemporary research and practice. Write the problem as a statement (one

sentence).

Your Answer:

Children who live in poor areas or are affected by poverty should still have equal opportunities to have an education.

You need to clarify this statement a little better. Try something like--Poverty frequently

denies children equal access to a quality education.

2. How does this problem relate to your academic and professional journeys? You need to demonstrate how your topic relates to the experiences and concepts you've learned in

academic classes and through professional work. This project should show focus and

depth of knowledge about a field or discipline, so explaining this connection of your topic

to what you've learned in your courses and work is very important.

Your Answer:

The right for children to have equal opportunities in education relates to my academic and

professional journeys in that I have expressed my passion for teaching. I want to become a

teacher after graduation and have already had experience in this field.

3. Why is this global problem significant? Explain why others should care, and the impact it has on world-wide populations. Properly cite at least one credible source of evidence to

support your answer and provide an APA formatted reference for your citation.

Your Answer:

The need of education in areas affected by poverty occurs because families will have to

choose

between sending their child to school or providing for them with other important things.

For some parents it can be very difficult to do both. When children do not attend school,

they stay home and complete chores, go to work, or are even forced into an early marriage

(Rodriguez, 2020). This issue should be focused on because it is unfair and all children

should have access to a proper education. Populations across the world are stricken by

poverty and see the adverse effects it had on the education of their children.

You need to work on demonstrating how the problem is a global problem. A good way to

do this is by providing examples from places around the world which experience your

particular problem. These examples will "show" that the problem is a global problem not

just something found in certain places. You need to work on choosing more appropriate

sources. Your sources need to be academic/peer-reviewed material. You cannot use just

any website.

4. What role do issues of cultural diversity play in your global problem?

Explain specific examples that have helped to cause the problem and/or can be part of the

solution. Properly cite at least one credible source of evidence to support your answer and

provide an APA formatted reference for your citation.

Your Answer:

The reason to the lack of education is poverty, which exists because of inequality in

society.

Having low pay, a lot of money responsibilities and expenses, as well as lack of job

employment opportunities can result in living in poverty as well (College of Mount Saint

Vincent, 2016). The solution would be to offer free schooling around the world. These

schools should provide students with teachers that are qualified and be given the proper

materials.

You need to work on demonstrating that your problem has diversity. A good way to show

this is to use examples which demonstrate that people from different backgrounds (ethnic,

religious, racial, etc.) all share this problem or by finding research which demonstrates

how people with certain backgrounds may experience the problem more than others. Like

question 3, you also need to work on finding more appropriate sources for your evidence.

A news article is not an academic source.
