· I’m a master student at Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications, Penn State University. I want to apply for the PhD. program at the Southern Illinois University. Therefore. This paper will be a three pages personal statement for the PhD. program at the Southern Illinois University.

1. The research statement: my research focus on these areas: Intellectual property and media, Media history, International communication, and Communication technology. (this is the area of research of Dr. DONG HAN).

Also, I’m interested in the relationship between media and power, and the role that media play in the formation of the public sphere in contemporary societies. (this is the area of research of Dr. CINZIA PADOVANI)

In addition, I’m interested in media and social change, social movements. (this is the area of research of Dr. SARAH LEWISON)

2. Please mention that I want to pursue my doctorate because I want to teach in the college and do research after finishing my PhD.
