inspire a Shared Vision - Visionary Leadership / Org. Vision

Chapters 4 & 5 of our text, The Leadership Challenge, provides a description of our next exemplary leadership practice, Inspire A Shared Vision. This relates to how leaders envision the future or enlist others to reach organizational goals.  Provide an explanation of how you have personally witnessed or experienced an example of this particular practice while conducting your service hours.  This may include situations you have observed, occurrences of direct communication with the organization's leader, or information you obtained from interviewing an organizational member.  This post needs to include the following three parts:

Description (What?)

Remind the reader where (the place) you are serving.  Describe a situation you have experienced while serving your hours that you believe is an example of 'Inspire a Shared Vision'.  Explain HOW your organization either communicates its vision of the future or what they do to enlist others.  Provide any insights you are gaining so far from conducting service hours at this organization which relates to this leadership practice.

Analysis (So What?)

Now apply your described situation (above) to at least ONE of the two commitments associated with 'Inspire a Shared Vision'.  Describe how this commitment was expressed (or could be expressed) in your service organization.  The commitments are found within their respective chapters.  Cite a specific passage / page of your application of the commitment.  Doing so will show evidence of your reading and understanding of the concept.  Provide your analysis by describing how your situation (from the 'description above') either strengthened or weakened the leadership practice.

Application (What Next?)

Apply what was learned in your analysis (above) by illustrating how you have used or witnessed a leader Inspiring a Shared Vision in some other personal or professional context--during another time of your life--not during your service experience.  Finally, using ONE of your five top signature strengths from StrengthsQuest, illustrate how this strength would be useful for building the practice of Inspire A Shared Vision in your life. (Empathy, Analytical Adaptability) or from the list here. You pick one.

· You may view the grading rubric for understanding the Instructor’s expectations

· If you cite a source--like our course text--include a Reference, in APA format, at the end of the post

CONDUCT A PEER REVIEW (4 pts):

You are also to evaluate AND respond to one post from a class peer.  Make your response somewhat robust and avoid short replies like ‘nice post’ or ‘good job’.  Instead, you are to provide two main areas of information:

1) Provide at least one specific example from your life, your service experience, or an event in recent news, that compares OR contrasts to an idea or event explained in your Peer's post.  For example, you might write, "your experience reminds me of when I....", or "I did not have the same experience you did, instead I,....".
