STEP B – Searching for Research Articles / Annotations
There are several sources for peer-reviewed, reputable research. The purpose of this task is to increase your familiarity with several databases while building an annotated bibliography. For each database you will select at least one resource. For each source you are expected to provide an annotation, which is a concise summary of the material along with some assessment of its value or relevance to your research topic. Approximately 150 words per source is adequate.
Source 1: Google Scholar
· Go to http://scholar.google.ca
· If you are at home, add links to Conestoga resources in Settings, in the Library Links section found on the left. This greatly increases the number of free articles (the LRC pays for you). If you are on campus, this set up is already completed for you.
· Search and choose at least one article that applies to your research topic
· For each article, produce a reference for the article in the APA referencing format (example below) along with an annotation of at least 150 words
Source 2: the LRC Online Collections
· From the LRC’s homepage, do a search using the “Discovery” tab, which searches across all the LRC’s collections. Choose three articles applicable to your research

NOTE : Late Part 1 Submissions will be ignored with no feedback given.
Part II - Literature Review Summary
Now that you have (at least) 3 annotations, I want you to synthesize what you know and understand about your topic now that you’ve completed the research. This literature review is to be no less than 200 words and should consolidate the findings from your research articles as well as incorporate material that has been discussed, read or otherwise covered in this course. Please note that students are expected to provide additional citations to support their Summary and this material must be referenced as required.
The recommended essay format will start with an introduction paragraph explaining your topic, why it was chosen and why it is important to ERP.
Next, the body of the essay should include 3-6 paragraphs that discuss what you understand about your research topic based on the articles that you’ve researched as well as additional course material.
Finally, the conclusion of your essay should result in 1-2 paragraphs that summarize your essay and also provides insights in to what you learned about your topic by completing this activity.

Need an APA refresher?
Here are the general elements of a journal article reference, in order, as well as their formatting requirements:
Author, A. (Year). Title of article. Title of Journal, volume (issue), pages. Doi or (indent) Retrieval statement including permanent link.
Here’s an example of an APA-formatted reference:
Donn, J. E., Routh, D. K., & Lunt, I. (2000). From Leipzig to Luxembourg (via Boulder and Vail): A history of clinical psychology training in Europe and the United States. Professional Psychology: Research and Practice, 31(4), 423-428. doi:10.1037/0735-7028.31.4.423
