Earth Science Assignment
Description:
As you may have noted in the lab grading scheme (see Lab Information Module - Lab Schedule and Marks Breakdown), part of your lab grade is based on a lab project that is due in the last week of classes. This project can take a variety of formats including written report/essay, video, detailed lesson plan (future teachers take note), field work report, curated collection, or you can propose an alternative format to me for approval. Note that all projects will have some written component that includes research references, acknowledgement of assistance, and for some topics may include other supporting documentation (script, learning goals/key ideas, lesson plan, etc.).
The broad goal of this project is to allow you to take a "deeper dive" into a topic that falls within the scope of this course (something covered in the lecture or lab or textbook). Note that "deeper dive" just means you will explore the topic, you may still cover a broad topic as long as you are getting to some new material or covering it in a unique way. This may be a topic you were already interested in before you took the course, or one that has peaked your interest since you have started. You may want to browse the textbook to look for ideas, or watch some "popular geology" shows on Youtube such as the work of Iain Stewart (https://www.youtube.com/results? search_query=iain+stewart+geology)
