The white paper allows the reader to understand an issue, solve a problem, or make a decision. The purpose of a white paper is to advocate that a certain position is the best way to go or that a certain solution is best for a particular problem. When used for commercial purposes, can influence decisions or current and prospective customers.

For this assignment, you are to develop a short topic proposal for your white paper. You will work on composing your white paper step by step throughout the next half of this course. Your proposal must include the following four sections:

1. A one- to two-page double-spaced page “Overview” section. In your overview, you should discuss:

a. The problem your white paper responds to,

b. A solution, or tentative set of solutions, that your white paper will or might propose, and

c. Any background information the reader may need to appreciate your problem and solution(s).

2. Annotations for three reliable sources related to your white paper topic. These annotations should:

a. Pertain to either a research article or a reliable trade journal article,

b. Summarize the given article in a thorough way, and

c. Discuss the relevance of this article to your white paper topic.

d. Include an APA citation before the written annotation paragraph(s)

3. A one- to two-paragraph reflection on the current stage of your work. How are you feeling about the project right now? What parts of the project are you excited about and/or confident in? What elements are you confused on or need to discuss further with your teacher and/or peers? What questions do you have about the project moving forward?

4. A reference list for the relevant sources you have discovered. Include reference for the sources highlighted in your annotations as well as any other sources you have discovered. You may not have yet read these sources, but you should still include their citation information to give your instructor a sense of your research direction.
