The first step in the profile essay is to choose who you will write your paper about. Choose someone interesting, someone who is worthy of writing an essay about. If you want, you can interview a fictional character as long as you understand that it's fictional.

The interview and works cited is due Saturday 10/16

Aim for thorough thoughtful responses, as they will help you later, but clipped, non-grammatical answers are acceptable.

Here are some questions to start you off. You can ask as many more as you would like, but these should be sufficient for this piece, if you choose a subject you already know a fair amount about.

1. What to do they do on a day-to-day basis? What’s their daily experience like?

2. How do they define themselves?

3. What major ideas, life guiding principles, or politics are important to your subject?

4. What type of job do they have?

5. Tell me how you got into (their most passionate subject/hobby/job)?

6. What is their biggest accomplishment/what are they most proud of?

7. What or who are the biggest influences on this subject?

8. Ask for background information: who their family is, where they are from, age etc?

9. Ask them for one of the most surprising, pleasing, or frustrating events from their life?

10. Any misconceptions about you, you would like to clear the air about?

· The second piece of this assignment is the accompanying works cited entry for your personal interview.

· You will type this up and turn in with your interview. You will also include this with your final draft as the appropriate works cited for the document.
