Reflection Questions:

· Explain efficiency and effectiveness in terms of sustainment and discuss their

importance across the levels of war.

· Why is it important for a SGM to understand sustainment at the tactical level?

· Explain the three major elements of the Sustainment Warfighting Function, and how they relate to ensure freedom of action, extend operational reach, and prolong endurance.

Assignment Instructions: Write a substantive journal entry describing:

· The Sergeants Major role in sustainment;

· Include your thoughts on what you think is important for a Sergeant Major to know to assist the commander in ensuring the organization has what it needs to operate properly.

· Be sure to reference appropriate doctrine that supports your analysis.
