Ink Dreams: Selections from the Fondation INK Collection | LACMA

Artwork under review from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

INTRODUCTION

During the weekend I visited the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to see their exhibition of paintings by Ink Dreams collections. The Inks Dream’s show will be open till December 12th 2021. I like the art how the artist has used colors and paper to bring out the Asian art. The painting is not smooth and in a specific order, that makes it even more interesting. I would recommend to my readers to visit the ink dreams show at Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Horses in the Chinese culture was associated with freedom and Chinese painting is a symbol of aspiration, ambition, and energy. Horses are among the most loved animals and it’s no surprise that they are favorite paintings for most artists. Ink dreams is the first presentation by Fondation INK Collection. They focus with contemporary art and tries to examine how ink has impacted the worldwide contemporary art world. This collection features art from different places such bas Europe, Asia, Chen Haiyan, North America, Hiroshi Sugimoto and many others.

This painting brings out an intangible spirit uniting the Chinese ink work, and proposes a new way of viewing in art.

BODY

This piece of work shows a horse pulling a chariot and some people standing beside it. The house seems to be moving past them. Mostly the chariots were used to carry be in leadership positions in ancient China. (Zhang, 2021).Also the horse is among the most love animals in the land and it became the most common subject of artwork among famous artist. The people standing beside the horse are showing respect that the king is passing. People in leadership

positions were highly valued by the people of the community and every time they had a chance to show respect they did it. The people standing beside the horse can be representing mandarins accompanying their emperor.

A historical art work in ancient China.

Ancient Chinese emperor in a four-horse chariot accompanied by mandarins. Handcoloured copperplate engraving by Andrea Bernieri from Giulio Ferrario's Ancient and Modern Costumes of all the Peoples of the World, Florence, Italy,

This is a piece of art from the ancient china. It’s a chariot with four horses carrying the emperor and mandarins walking along the chariot. Mandarins are official in the top grades of the former imperial Chinese civil services.(Abdullah, 2019).When you carefully look at the two pieces of art work that I have posted you will see a lot of similarities. In both there is a chariot of horses, and mandarins walking along the chariot.

The difference they have is that the historical art is painted in a more harmonious way while the artwork it seems as if someone was playing with paint. The both artworks relate in such a way that they are bringing out the ancient china. (Yang, 2020).Both artists have used the most commonly used subject by artists, the horse. Also the presences of mandarins further shows the relationship of the two pieces of artwork and ancient Chinese form of governance.

In the ancient China chariots were mainly used for war. The chariots could carry the armory of the fighters and it easier to carry their fire power. They were very prominent battle vehicles and used to transport the weaponry between battle fields.

CONCLUSION

This painting brings out an intangible spirit uniting the Chinese ink work, and proposes a new way of viewing in art. I have learnt something new about the Chinese culture and I also a new of expressing art. I hope you will learn what I have learnt and much more about the usage of chariots in ancient china. I recommend to my readers to visit the show before it’s over. I assure them if they are enthusiast of art they will have a time of their life and also learn something new.
