Summary:

 

While talking about sustainability, consider the following facts about the textile industry, 

 

· It takes more than 5,000 gallons of water to manufacture just a T-shirt and a pair of jeans. 

· The textile industry is one of the top 3 water-wasting sectors in China, discharging over 2.5 billion tons of wastewater every year.

 

JGJ Inc is coming up with a revolution in the textile manufacturing system. The JGJ Inc aims to address this challenge by working with suppliers, NGOs, and other industry stakeholders to improve our textiles supply chain's sustainability. The concept is all textile products to be sustainably designed, sustainably produced, and made with quality that lasts.

JGJ Inc introduces the revolutionary textile manufacturing system that will be a game-changer in the conventional textile industry. The method of clothing manufacturing JGJ Inc has been introduced based on the following theories.

· Development of sustainable raw material to make garments and reuse of garments as raw material.

· Application of different energy conversation techniques and use of renewable energy sources.

· Use of process waste as a part of raw material again.

Textile products are an essential part of everyday lives and represent a vital sector for the global economy. As the global population is projected to rise, the demand for products like clothing, towels, and other textile products will also increase, while resources are expected to become scarcer. The challenge facing the world is how to produce an increasing volume of products while working to conserve resources. 

According to NPR reports, from the Environmental Protection Agency, that 15.1 million tons of textile waste were generated in 2013, of which 12.8 million tons were discarded.

About 15% of fabric intended for clothing ends up on the cutting room floor. This waste rate has been tolerated industry-wide for decades

Key differentiating characteristics of the offering

The JGJ will introduce their garments by the name of "Eco-Re-born garments."  This is selected because the garments are environmentally friendly and made up of reusable raw material. 

The recycled products used by JGJ Inc to create its garments are, 

Post-Consumer Waste:

The post-consumer waste includes the garments used by the consumers. JGJ will collect them, shred them, and will reuse them in their garments manufacturing. Here important point to note that JGJ Inc will also use post-industrial waste. Which usually other competitors don't use. JGJ will use a combination of post-consumer waste and post-industrial waste. Typically, companies don't consider PIW as recycled waste. But JGJ will use some portion of that, too, to make the product unique. PCW will be collected from charity organizations, thrift stores, and public donations. As we briefed earlier that JGJ will offer certain incentives if a consumer returns its old clothing while buying the new one. 

Plastic bottles: 

The second raw material that will be used is plastic bottles. JGJ Inc will use this raw material in replacement of conventional Polyester portion in their raw material mix. Plastic bottle recycling will be collected and passed through a series of cleaning and crushing steps to obtain plastic flakes, which, through a mechanical process, are converted into rough polyester spun fiber. The material gained from this process will be used to develop every JGJ pieces of products like fabrics, straps, labels, laces, and much more. Assumptions and research prove that JGJ can imply a reduction of a 20% in water consumption, 50% in energy consumption, and a 60% in air pollution. 

Recycled cotton:  

By recycled cotton, JGJ Inc means the cotton linters, cotton gin motes. Cotton linters and Cotton Gin motes usually are not used to make garments because they are short in length and include high production losses during manufacturing. JGJ will use them in the non-woven section of their garments. Non-woven products are where we don't use the conventional spinning system to make the yarns and then fabric. In this process, we will stick all fibers together with a sticky solution, like glue, to make a fabric base. JGJ will use in it as jackets insulators of fillers, baby diapers, etc. 

Fishing nets: 

Fishing nets are normally made of Nylon. The unique thing with these nylon products is the transformation process used to create new fabrics after the operation requires half of the steps than a conventional chemical process. By this practice, JGJ can get significant savings in water, energy, and CO2 emissions. Using recycled fishing nets has many benefits: -27% natural resources consumption, prevents marine pollution and reduces air pollution by 28%.
