Informative Speech Assignment Description
You will prepare a typed preparation outline. LENGTH: 6 minutes TOPIC: You will give a speech on an object, event, or process. For example, if you choose an informative speech on a process then the purpose of the speech to demonstrate. This type of speech takes the audience through a series of events which lead them to a specific result or product. How to create holiday ornaments, how to take dents out of fenders and how to tune a guitar are all speeches about processes. Do not urge the audience to act on the issue. Action is an essential component in the persuasive speech, not the informative. REQUIREMENTS • Visual Aid: You are required to use a visual aid such as an object or power point. • Note-cards: You are required to use 3x5 or 4x6 note-cards during your speech. If you have
not prepared note-cards, you will not be able to bring up your formal outline.
• At least three credible sources (beside yourself) must be mentioned in the speech and referenced properly in outline.
