Bowen Family Theory
This theory was developed by Dr. Murray Bowen. The theory aims to resolve symptoms and reduce anxiety and help family members to connect emotionally.
Role of counselor
The role of the counselor is to help individuals to see family members as people with their own flaws, needs and strengths (Erdem & Safi, 2018).
Application to Family Counseling
The theory gives the therapist an approach of organizing and categorizing events making it possible to explain the past and predict the future in the family setting.

Strengths
· It addresses the behavior and structure of the broader relationship system.
· Encourages autonomy
Limitations
· It has an Unrealistic idea that we can handle all problems.
· Individuals have to commit themselves to the process to benefit from the theory (Thompson, Wojciak & Cooley, 2019).
