Job Description
The job description should include the following:
1. Identification Information: this includes the job title which reflects the position with respect to department and hierarchy within the department, such as Marketing Manager, Customer Service Representative, or Inventory Control
Clerk and the location (department and division if necessary) of the job. (5 Points)
2. Job Summary: a short statement that summarizes the job’s duties, responsibilities, and place in the organizational structure. (5 Points)
Example of summary for a Customer Service Clerk-
Answers inquiries and gives directions to customers, authorizes cashing of customer checks, records and returns lost charge
cards, sorts and reviews new credit applications, works at customer service desk in department store.
3. Job Duties and Responsibilities: explains what is done, how it is done, and why it is done. Typically, a description will include three to five of the most important responsibilities and each responsibility statement begins with an action verb.
For this assignment include a minimum of four (4) statements. (15 Points)
Example of a duty/responsibility statement for the Customer Service Clerk described above.
1. Authorizes cashing of personal or payroll checks (up to a specified amount) by customers desiring to make payment by check.
Request's identification, such as driver’s license, from customers, and examines check to verify date, amount, signature,
and endorsement. Initials check and sends customer to cashier.
4. Job Requirements/Specifications lists the worker characteristics (KSA’s – knowledge, skills, abilities) needed to perform the job successfully. (10 Points)

5. Minimum Qualifications: the basic standards an applicant must have achieved to be considered for the job. (5 Points)
