Impact of Organizational Structure and Communication

According to Organizational structure is a system that molds how specific things like roles,

responsibilities, and rules are given out with the intent to complete the goals laid out by the company.

The overall culture and performance of the organization has the potential to be impacted depending on

the type of structure that the organization choses to implement. A great example of this would be the

“simple” structure. Within the simple structure, the culture and behavior that becomes standard is that

of a family type environment that creates a bond and a level of trust within the group of people working

there. In my opinion, it is the most likely to create and build close working relationships with the other

people in the organization. This structure has a higher chance of creating employees that are loyal to the

organization that in turn will also lower turnover rates, which is a large concern for a lot of companies.

Organizational behavior is impacted in a positive way if the structure that is applied is one that shows a

benefit to the employees and organization both. The best type of culture is one that allows employees to

be able to fully showcase their work potential and promotes a stress-free work processes that are clear

to follow. In an alternate environment, the implementation of an ineffective structure can cause issues in

all areas of the organization. Things such as communication, integrity, and patient care are just a few that

are affected in a negative way as a result of an improper implementation of a structure. Employees will

start to demonstrate low morale which could result in poor customer service and quality control issues

(Root,2019).

When an organization has good and clear communication the employees find it easier to be able

to work and complete tasks with the right directives and knowledge. Communication plays a large part in

the organizational structure. Having managers that stay active in their employees is another form of

communication that allows the employee to feel as though they are a valued member of the team.

Managers that stay engaged are more likely to receive honest, positive feedback (Xaxx,2019). Lack of

communication from management will leave employees to take on roles in which they are not best

suited for all in order to make up for the lack of organization. As mentioned earlier, a lack of

communication and adequate leadership will contribute to an organization having a higher turnover rate

which affects the entire organization in more ways than one.
