IMAGE-NATION ASSIGNMENT DEADLINE for 6 submissions: MIDNIGHT BEFORE FINAL DAY OF CLASS 1. Choose an image that represents the IB topic provided. 2. Write three words that describe the topic/concept/relationship depicted in the image. 3. Then write a 100-word paragraph in which you describe more in depth the how and the why of your chosen image (for example, how it connects to the topic, to what you know, to what you have learned, to what we have discussed in class, etc.) You get the picture.

You are responsible for submitting a total of 6 Image-nation assignments this semester. You will not be graded for more than 6 entries, although I provide 9 topics to choose from . Each Image-nation submission is worth 10 points for a total of 60 points for the semester. The image = 3 points; the descriptive words = 2 points; the paragraph = 5 points.

Submit your Image-Nation assignments any time throughout the semester. The deadline for all six assignments is midnight before the final day of class.

3. Thanks to globalization, the media no longer has physical boundaries. Prior to globalization, media was local. The media reported what was happening domestically, to a domestic audience. But thanks to globalization, the rise of international television channels, cross border newspapers that are printed and distributed in multiple countries, and global mass media firms have placed a magnifying glass upon the world, so that people all around the world can see and learn what is going on in even the furthest of regions.

3. Globalization has brought a sense of intimacy and ease to transnational social movements. Through global communications in particular, it is easier than ever for movement groups to unify and coordinate their efforts, messages and influences on the global stage. Physical borders are no longer an obstacle. Take, for example, some of the recent transnational movements, such as the recent women’s march on Washington, D.C. protests all over the world were effortlessly coordinated in capitals across the globe in a demonstration of solidarity for this movement. Globalization brings people from far places close together, strengthening the movement despite distance.
