Illegal immigration in the United States of America is posing more harm than good in the political and economic spheres of the citizens. I am therefore against illegal immigration.

Labor markets stands out to be one of the affected sectors in the United States by illegal immigration. A research done by “Pew Research Center” estimates the number of unauthorized immigrants in America labor force market to be 8 million. It is quite interesting in that 90% of the immigrants are literate and fled their country due to economic issues of being unable to find job in their motherland country. This figure of workforce is decreasing steadily as the first priority is being given to the native United States citizens. This effect of illegal immigration has been explained by the Mortensen Pissarides Model which is an important tool in measuring welfare and unemployment on labor market policies. The salaries of the skilled and unskilled labor are determined by the forces of demand supply in the market. For example, taking a citing a case of two authorized worker (U.S. citizen) and an immigrant worker. Despite the fact that many of the illegal immigrants in the States are not able to speak the native English, they are unable to secure the high profile jobs that require high level of communication skills. They take a minimum of one year to learn the language, become articulate and therefore become competitive as the Native Americans in the long run. This will always be the trend if illegal immigration is not controlled in America because most of the illegal immigrants are youth under the age of 35 years.

Economic security has been greatly affected by illegal immigrants in America. The economic and national security depends on the native citizens who are working and living in America illegally to get right and live by the rule of the law that is in place under the Immigration Act. This is why those immigrating should be subjected to thorough background checks, admit their culpability develops American civics and pay significant taxes and fines. When these illegal immigrants are let to stay in United States, they have a higher hand and will have jumped ahead the Native Americans who are seeking for legal entry hence the principle of equality and consideration not followed. The native citizen of any particular country should enjoy the privileges of exit and entry into the county at their own please as long as they follow the existing laws in the Constitution.

The intentions of these illegal immigrants are not known since they didn’t declare their purpose immigrating to America. This will always remain the biggest dilemma to the policy and law makers. If their intentions were good enough to be in America, then they could have sought and followed the legal means and guidelines in place. The illegal immigrants in America provide the opportunity and means for terrorists to enter and exit at their own will. This will always open opportunities for crime and terrorism. The federal government should enforce and enact strict illegal immigration laws so as to protect the American citizens. The ever increasing number of immigrants in the United States is linked to the increase in criminal activities. In August 2012, a report from Congressional Research Service showed that 159,000 illegal immigrants were arrested in America with a span of 33 months in connection to criminal activities. These crimes range from drug-crimes and drunk-driving. This explains why there are increased criminal activities along the U.S.-Mexican border.

Illegal immigrants in the United States are associated with drug abuse and peddling. One of the major steps taken by Donald Trump’s government is to build the America-Mexico wall in order to reduce drug peddling and illegal immigrants from Mexico. Psychologists state that social behavior is not inborn but acquired.

The risk of substance and drug abuse in Mexico has been found to be closely correlated with the flow of illegal immigrants from Mexico. The immigrants carry along their behaviors and create a ready market for their drugs. In that the drugs are already in the market, the Native American youth will develop this vice of drug abuse due to associations and socialization with these illegal Mexican Immigrants. The increase in drug and substance abuse is directly proportional to the increase in illegal immigrants in United States. Mexico is a hotbed for hard drugs and substances. With the flow of immigrants in and out of America to Mexico eventually exposes the citizens of United States to the risks associated with drug abuse. The addicts of these drugs and substance abuse become burden to the government in providence of the basic needs and increased victims in rehabilitation centers sponsored by the government. The money used to care for these addicts can be used to spur the economic growth and providence of essential services to the native citizens such as basic health care and education.

The United States is facing a major challenge of population growth. As stated above, the number of immigrants is currently at 11.3 million and this is one of the causes of the rapid population increase. In other words, illegal immigration is propelling America’s population growth. Bearing in mind that the natural resources are depleted day-by-day, this causes pressure on land and other resources. An economist by the name Thomas Robert Malthus formulated a theory on population and food supply. According to the economist, the population in America is growing in geometric progression metrics. A geometric progression is where the figures increase by multiplying the first term by a common ration. Citing an example of such a sequence 2, 20, 200, 2000, the common ratio is 10. Additionally, the food production is increasing at Arithmetic progression. Arithmetic progression where the difference between consecutive numbers is constant. Example of such a sequence is 2, 12, 22, 32, the common difference is 10.
