Government Systems in Asia
Structures of government in Asia slightly differ with those of other countries. For instance, Japan is a unitary state with the emperor as the head of state. Its government can be described as a constitutional monarchy whereby the emperor’s power is limited and usually relegated to ceremonial duties. The role of controlling and directing the government belongs to the cabinet which consists of state ministers and the prime minister. It is divided into three arms; the executive, legislature, as well as the judiciary. It is understood that Japanese government principally runs under the parameters established by the constitution of Japan.
The legislative organ in Japan is called The National Diet and it is bicameral. The upper house is the House of Councilors whereas the lower house is the House of Representatives. The judicial branch is made up the Supreme Court and other substandard courts. All these are not controlled by the executive and legislature. Three types of elections happen in Japan. In every four years, general elections are held in the House of Representatives. There also elections to House of Councilors done every three years and local elections every four years.
On the other hand, the government of India consists of three main sections namely the executive, judiciary, and the legislature. The president and his vice plus cabinet ministers make up the executive. Its role is to pass laws that are made by the parliament. The parliament of India is made up of Lok Sabha +Rajya Sabha and the prime minister. The judiciary in India solves conflicts between parliament and Executive as well other conflicts related to the public. Indian constitution gives room for a maximum of 532 members in the Lok Sabha who elect the Prime Minister of India.
In conclusion, The People’s Republic of China is known to have a government divided among numerous forms. As a matter of fact, it has the legislative arm which is referred to as the National People Congress. There is also the executive arm government which includes the state counsel and the head of government called Premier of China. China also has the judicial branch of the government in which there is the National Supervisory Commission, the Supreme People’s Court as well as the Supreme People’s Procuratorate. The country further has the military branch with the People’s Liberation Army through the Central Military Commission. The country’s elections are conducted are on the basis of the hierarchical electoral system through which local People’s Congress are directly elected by the people. After the election, local People Congress meet and elect members of higher levels of people’ congresses.
