The purpose of this risk assessment is to assess the potential risks associated with the company's administration building project, specifically focusing on the construction of a 5-floor structure located in the Al- Khomrah district. The facility in question serves as an administrative office for the corporation and is currently projected to reach completion within a one-year timeframe. The construction project encompasses a total area of 1,700 square meters. The project is equipped with a primary entrance and is staffed by a security personnel. The entirety of the project is encompassed by a perimeter wall constructed from timber planks securely affixed into the earth.

The management team consists of the project manager, site manager/site engineer, and safety supervisor.

The project encompasses various activities, including excavations for the building, manual handling, window and door welding, ground-level cement mixing, tile and marble installation, using of scaffold, wood cutting, as well as work at elevated heights for window installation,

The initial phase of my investigation was an examination of ILO Convention 155C and Recommendation 164R, as well as Convention 167 pertaining to Safety and Health in Construction. Additionally, I explored the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) http://www.osha.gov/ guidelines and the comprehensive directives provided by health and safety executives https://www.hse.gov.uk/guidance/index.htm , which are applicable to all types of workplaces. I have obtained relevant data to facilitate the execution of an independent risk assessment. The visit commenced with my entrance into the project site, followed by a comprehensive exploration of the whole project area. This encompassed a thorough examination of all levels within the building, where various construction and welding activities were being carried out. During my observation, I witnessed laborers engaging in painting tasks, utilizing drilling and hammer drilling equipment. Additionally, workers were observed blending cement with soil at ground level, resulting in the emission of a substantial amount of cement dust. Wood-cutting activities were conducted, and the workers utilized dust masks. In addition, I observed instances of manual handling, wherein individuals engaged in the manual lifting of tiles, marble, and bricks, as well as the unloading of wood from trucks, its subsequent transportation, and the manual lifting of doors and windows, all of which were executed utilizing incorrect lifting techniques. The individuals informed me that they had not received proper training in the appropriate techniques for manual lifting or in the utilization of faulty hand carts. Additionally, I observed a group of laborers engaged in their tasks in the direct exposure of sunlight.

I engaged in discussions with employees regarding the hazards and risks to which they are subjected, as well as the strategies for mitigating or managing such risks within the occupational setting. I have conducted a comprehensive examination of various papers pertaining to matters of health and safety, encompassing injury accident reports, sick leave records, and absence records, throughout the course of recent months. The majority of employee sick absence instances were attributed to asthma and a herniated disc. The findings were thoroughly deliberated with both the site manager and the recently hired safety supervisor.
