Teamwork and communication is important in the relationship between teachers and parents to enforce individualized education program.
Program planning- the teacher is responsible in ensuring that all steps are carried out to ensure the student achieves IEP goals. Procedural safeguards include the teacher being able to identify the area of weakness and ensure it is addressed fully. Technological advancements have eased IEP in public schools as it is easier to identify weaknesses in students and also help them properly. The teachers cultural linguistic diversity enables them are able to address issues on a wider scale as it eases communication between them and teachers/students, thus helping in the transitioning of students to mainstream classroom activities and eventually equip them to work and interact socially.

Teacher preparation for meeting
The teacher should be a team player and work with other team members. The teacher should properly organize information ahead of time. The teacher should be able to identify roles played by the parent and student so as to better be able to help the student achieve IEP goals.
Role of teacher in IEP
The teachers are not only responsible for formulating the IEP but also implement it as they are the mentors and role models that the students look up to. They make sure that all IEP goals are achieved.

Eligibility to the program
Response to Intervention (RtI) is an approach that is set up by the educational stake holders to ensure that the students who are placed in the program have an underlying impairment like blindness, autism etc. for them to be given Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).

The individualized education program (IEP) is a process setup by the United States of America to aid students with special needs in the public school system. This process ensures that all students regardless of their physical or mental limitations get the proper and most suitable level of education available.
