Integrative Statement
A number of information technologies have been used to support many knowledge management processes, including artificial intelligence techniques (Al-Busaidi 2010). The author conducted a study to evaluate the effect of promoting the knowledge management processes through the corporate portal utilizing the processes across different organizations. Knowledge acquisition, conversion, and application tend to have a more significant impact on the success and efficiency of an organization as well as the learning process.
According to the results acquired, knowledge management processes tend to have the highest effect on an organization as well as the employees. On the other hand, Hegde, & Narahari (2009) the entrepreneurial development in India mostly depends on the mentoring, business, and exploration of technological advancement across generations. According to the author, the skills learned across the generations are what help an organization attain sustained development that is later converted into technology. Successful entrepreneurship is determined by a successful integration of ability into technological components.
According to Derksen (2014) the controversy that broke out from the introduction of scientific management concept by Taylor, many critiques contended that scientific management ignored the concept of the human factor and reduced workers to machines. Scientific management was not less human than other approaches such as human relations, but human factor was expressed differently.
The contribution of Hawthorne studies to management was performed by Muldoon (2012). He stated that Hawthorne’s work was more thorough and complete compared to the post work done. The study was viewed as a contribution in light to the political biases and other methodological issues.
Extension Statement
Knowledge management is a key concept in any organization. It assists in developing employees through the addition of skills and knowledge. Through knowledge management includes creating, sharing, and using the information and resources of an organization. Knowledge management helps an organization to achieve the objectives of an organization through better utilization of the available knowledge. Technology, in this case, can assist in accomplishing this goal. Through technology, an organization can make sure information is stored, as well shared, and explored in depth. Technological advancements also tend to have a greater impact on the operations of the business.
The information gathered can be converted into technological components of the organization, which helps in increasing the productivity levels. This type of skills and knowledge can also be acquired from a large pool of employees. The concept of scientific management, on the other hand, is very important. Technology can be integrated into the organization's processes to reduce waste, while increasing quality and efficiency. Hawthorne’s studies have an impact on the productivity because of the effect it has on human behavior level of an organization. Human behavior plays a crucial role in the performance levels of the organization. Therefore, technology plays a vital role in influencing the behavior of employees within an organization.
Evaluative Statement
Technology, scientific management, and Hawthorne’s studies both focus on increased productivity within an organization. However, more studies need to be conducted to connect the three concepts of employee productivity. It is important to establish a framework that can be used to explain the relationship between the technology and scientific management within an organization and how all these can influence the productivity level of employees. Hawthorne’s studies were focused on the human behavior.
These behaviors need to be connected to the technology. It is a fact that technology tends to influence most of the day to day activities in employees lives. Therefore, there is a bigger possibility that technology tends to play a key role in influencing the behavior of employees. The three concepts technology scientific management and the Hawthorne’s effect need to be examined on a bigger level so as to make the connection on the relationship they have with employee performance, job satisfaction and productivity among others.
