Assessment Task 2 Instructions

Carefully read the following scenario:

EGI College is a private Registered Training Organisation (RTO) with a campus based in Sydney CBD, it offers over 40 certificate and diploma level qualifications in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector for many subject areas including business, community services, education, information technology, health, hospitality, and many others.

Students select from one of two study shifts (morning or afternoons) to undertake study, which is self-directed in nature or trainer led, and to undertake assessments.

There are currently 450 students that attend the institute across a wide range of classrooms. Depending on their studies, students who require access to a computer are given access Windows 10 desktop machine and a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, and other software applicable to their studies plus access the internet.

Student management is undertaken on a bespoke application called “Student Manager.” Student Manager is a tool used to record student attendance, unit completion, student’s notes, and other applicable student management tasks.

EGI College use a mixture of laptops and desktop machines which all have Windows 10 and Microsoft Office 2016 installed on them. The network is managed by two servers:

• Admin server has Windows Server 2016 installed on it and is used by the employees of EGI College. It includes active directory, DNS (Domain Name Service), DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), and acts as the gateway to the internet. It also asks as an application server for the Student manager application and its associated database.

• A Student server also has Windows Server 2016 installed on it and is used by the students for study purposes. It also has active directory on it, and a separate domain implementing DNS and DHCP services.

Network Attached Storage is used for accessing both staff and student files. A UPS is used to protect the network from power loss and electrical surges.

The current network diagram of how the network components fits together is shown as follows:

The strategic goals which is a part of the organisation’s Strategic Plan as follows,

a. a Qualification Code,

b. name of the course, duration,

c. name of the teacher assigned to teach the course,

d. the number of classes each week.

2. A Teacher can teach multiple classes.

3. Each class is only taught by one teacher.

4. For each teacher, the following information is recorded:

a. Employee Number, name,

b. name of the department he/she works with,

c. skills,

d. the hourly rate.

5. For each class, the following information is recorded:

a. class number,

c. starting time,

d. ending time.

e. One qualification can have many classes.

6. For each room, the following information is recorded:

a. room number,

b. room type (classroom, office, auditorium, and computer lab),

c. capacity.

d. One room can have multiple classes.

The above information is used to make the right assignment of a teacher that teaches a particular course to a class and a classroom.

Above diagram is IEEE 1016, which need to be followed as organisational standard for the modelling development.

Note: To continue the below task, please make sure to complete the ICTSAD501 and ICTSAD502 assessment task 2 activity. It is a continuation of ICTSAD501 task 2 activity.

Part 3 (ICTNWK548)

Task 6.

Organise the team meeting with assessor to review and confirm information requirements and existing models. Use the email template to send the meeting invitation to the team. Before the meeting analyse the design and prepare the meeting item as per the following tasks (6.1,6.2,6.3,6.4,6.5), Use ICTNWK548 task 2 project portfolio Section 1 to document the following tasks.

· Task 6.1 Review information requirements and clarify at-least 4 areas that are not understood

· Task 6.2 Identify organisational standards for developing models and check the model development method for consistency with organisational goals by listing the rules from the diagram given in the case study.

· Task 6.3 Identify assumptions and incorporate into modelling process.

· Task 6.4 Identify goals and resolve into tasks required to be performed to obtain goals by creating WBS (Work breakdown Structure) for new system development.

· Task 6.5 Define internal tasks needed to perform identified goals for modelling data objects ERD.

Task 7.

Outline the issues identified and resolving methods to handle the conflicts and inconsistencies by answering the tasks 7.1 and 7.2. Use ICTNWK548 task 2 project portfolio Section 2 to document the following tasks.

· Task 7.1 Identify missed opportunities arising from previous and current model development

· Task 7.2 Identify bottlenecks, overlooked functionalities and other issues, and resolve with client input as required.

Task 8.

Build and test model by completing the tasks 8.1 to 8.5. Use the organisational standards for Data dictionary document available in the assessment template as a guideline to prepare the data dictionary. Complete the following tasks and use ICTNWK548 task 2 project portfolio Section 3 to document the following tasks.

· Task 8.1 Develop model based on existing architecture by creating the use case model.

· Task 8.2 Document details of model, according to agreed project or organisational standards by creating the data dictionary based on the ERD diagram of Task 1.3 & Task 1.5.

· Please follow the organisational standards for Data dictionary that is provided under the assessment template.

· Task 8.3 Develop model according to project deliverables and acceptance criteria within determined timeframe and project constraints by creating the database based on the data dictionary created in the task 8.2. Submit the screen shots of your database including relationship.

· Task 8.4 Test model against the test plan by preparing the checklist items to be checked in the database.

· Task 8.5 Document test data to ensure that test procedures validate performance of the model.

Task 9.

Send email using Email template to team (Trainer-Project Sponsor) for final review and sign off.

Conduct the meeting to verify the data model to ensure that the model represents a workable solution. Complete the following tasks (9.1,9.2,9.3). Use ICTNWK548 task 2 project portfolio Section 4 to document the following tasks.

· Task 9.1 Ensure a consensus view of key information and communications technology (ICT) of stakeholders which is represented in data, process, and system model by discussing with stakeholders in a team (Trainer-Project Sponsor)

· Task 9.2 Ensure that object, process, and system model is checked by key ICT stakeholders (Trainer-Project Sponsor) to confirm common knowledge of the models and the proposed solution by revising these models if necessary.

· Task 9.3 Submit revised data model, process model and system solutions to the approvers (Trainer-Project Sponsor) for sign-off by writing and email with necessary attachments.
