Re:Topic 7 DQ 1

An important step in the implementation of EBP is the dissemination of results (Winters & Echeverri, 2012). An internal method for discussing my EBP results and practice change would be at a staff meeting. Presenting at an ICU staff meeting would allow me to discuss the benefits of early mobility and answer questions related to the practice change. Creating a power point would allow me to showcase the highlights of the plan and provide statistical evidence to back up my research. I would also have a physical therapist there to answer questions related to mobilizing patients. Since this project specifically concerns ICU patients it is not necessary to disseminate the information hospital wide. AN external method for the dissemination of my EBP project would be to present my information at a local American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) meeting. The AACN and its members are dedicated to provide the highest quality of patient care while continually advancing the nursing practice. “Chapters also offer excellent opportunities for local continuing education opportunities, connecting to your professional nursing organization, networking with other local nurses, and sharing evidence-based practices” (American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, n.d.). By presenting information on my EBP project at a local AACN chapter I can not only pass on the information I have gathered, but also get advice from others in the field that may have experience with early mobility of ICU patients. I would provide information to this group via a power point highlighting the benefits and statistical data that back my practice change.
