Characteristics of a good manager or a leader in the work place

Leaders and Managers are the key players in the running of an effective organization. They are known to be controlling the activities within the organization, organizing events and other activities to be done within the organization, by coming up with the missions and the visions of the organization, they set what are to be achieved within a given period of time. They lead the team to doing certain tasks by giving examples of what to be done. They are known to be the head of the organization and has to be the role models. For example, for the employees to report to work early, the leader or the manager must be the first person to be there so as the others to copy what he or she is doing.

Leaders and managers also involves in setting the plans of the organization and what the organizations has to do to achieve its se goals. Failure to plan by the managers and the leaders is like them planning to receive an automatic fail within the organization

Since they are the head, the drivers of the organization Leaders and managers has to acquire certain qualities that will enable them to carry out an effective duty. These qualities will help them to achieve the organization goals and also their personal goals.

1. Honesty

Honesty is very essential for any leader or a manage, they have to be honest with themselves and with other people. their duties must portray high level of honest so that his or her followers can copy their actions .Since the leaders and the managers are the ones who are setting the benchmark for everybody within the organization , in case they are involved in any unethical activities his or her followers will just copy that character .It is an open truth that if the manager is ready and willing to be honest in his duties , by fighting against any form of corruption or any other unethical activities , there are chances that his or her followers will be working hard to meet his set standard, he will inspire them to do what is right and the right time and place .Therefore managers and leaders must show honesty it their team members and with the clients for effective running of the organization.

1. Integrity

All employees find it very pleasant to work with leaders with high level of integrity they are motivated to work hard since they are assured that there will be no sort of unethical behavior or activity by the leaders. Therefore, for effective running of the business and the organization leaders should focused in exercising integrity in all their activities all the time. Investors too are always happy and willing to work with companies with integrity that working with those without integrity, therefore this attracts the investors making the company to expand and grow.

1. Peoples Skills

People skills is the ability of the leader or the manager to listen, communicate and have good relationship with other people. Managers and leaders must know and understand how to handle different personalities within the organization. since most of the people within the organization and having different characteristics. dealing with them might be a very big task but the manager must be in apposition to understand that and know how to handle them. He or she must be ready to work with anybody at any given time to achieve the organization set goals.

1. Willing to Delegate tasks

All managers and leaders must be ready to delegate the management and the leadership task to other people. they should be able to create teams with different leaders to manage such teams. Since as an individual one cannot accomplish al the available tasks , by doing this the origination will be moving smoothly and efficiently .They must be ready to nature the upcoming leaders and the managers within the organization , they must give light of leadership to other people to enable others too to reach that position .Mentorship of the upcoming leaders is very essential since it will enable the organization to have strong background of leadership.

Managers and leaders are two different people who should be performing different tasks but supplements each other, some organizations are over managed but they are under led. Managers and given the functions of Planning, organizing, coordinating and controlling the activities of the organization. while the leaders are to Provide direction, Align People, and motivate them. Therefore, organizations should have leaders and managers who are performing different tasks.

There is a lot of difference when it comes to gender, whether it’s a male manager or a female one, both of them possesses different and unique qualities and attributes. The Male managers are often more honest than the females because females somehow are cunning when it comes to solving problems yet male managers are simple and straight forward and easy to deal with. The male manager is often willing to delegate duties yet the female manager is not willing to. So there is a lot of difference between both the genders.

There are many reasons for female managers to behave a certain way yet male managers are more confident in this culture and interact with a lot of strangers, yet females are a little shy in this matter. Our culture also promotes male managers as people around us are not simple and they try to take benefit of other means from the females. You cannot judge someone by its cover so by only saying that a person is a bad manager is not ethical. There should be a valid reason for it whether a female manager or a male manager has a conflict in between or has done something.

The audience or the employees also listen to male managers more in comparison to female managers because the male managers are more practical than a female manager. Female managers are more emotional and sensitive but male managers are rational and logical. But with the rise of emerging female managers nowadays in recent years is the reason why there has been more hiring of female staff in companies, maybe nowadays female are more qualified than male. Also female give better presentations than male managers for other companies, as it's known about female managers that they are really hard working and meet all their deadlines, yet male managers tend to ignore work till the last minute.

So a best manager is the one who understand its employee's problems and work towards it to solve it. The managers who don’t understand the specific need of their employees does harm the environment of the office and its employee's conditions. The motivated and happy surrounding of the office is the one, where a manager is easy to talk to and there is happy positive feeling around. Whether it’s a female or a male manager, they should be helping and cooperative so the employees can come forward whenever they have any problems.
