Win-Win Solution

Morton Deutsch played a great role in the development of the field of conflict resolution. He invented the solution popularly known as win-win solution, in which the decision that is made in a conflict scenario is a satisfying one to all the parties initially involved in the conflict. This means that all parties feel good about the decision and remain committed to the action plan that is agreed upon going forward. This type of conflict resolution is designed to ensure that all the mediator fully understands each side in the conflict and what their complaints are to better understand them. This is a critical role in which meditators must not choose one side over the other. That way, it becomes easy to ensure that the decision to be made is mutually satisfying and does not disadvantage any of the parties.

First of all, during the negotiation of Sally Soprano there were some conflict at the begging. One of the main reasons is that both parties were taking positions instead of focus on the interest for the long and short term. This led us to “look... to their interest instead of the position made it possible to develop a solution (yes43)”. For example, at first, I was more focus on her s alary instead of her talents. But after few minutes of conversation I realized the full potential Sally has to Lyrics. This way allowed both parties to find commend ground to start negotiating the agreement of the contract. During our conversation, there were many great ideas that sally manger brought to the table which open an opportunity to lyrics and Sally as well. This was the first step to earn trust among both parties and work closely to achieve the goal of closing Sally contract.

As a manager of lyrics, it’s important to recognize the needs, hopes and want of Sally to better understand her interest in this role. It was kind surprising at first by the high salary, she was requesting. But as a manager was vital to put myself in her shoes to better see the bigger picture. Why was important to Sally to earn a high salary from non-profits. At the end of the day money was not the main issue for Sally. However, she was more concern to have a huge publicity and her images was not damages by Lyrics poor advertising. By understanding her concerns that she has not been in the spotlight in few years it was vital to have a huge advertising campaign. This way Sally will reconnect with their fans and will attracted new audience into the Opera.

In the end of the day, both parties were very satisfied with the outcomes of the negotiation we can call a win-win situation. Finally, Sally signed up the contract in which clearly specify her main concerns. Lyrics will be investing heavily in her images and advertising. By understanding both parties during a negotiation and having a fair deal that benefits both sides will create a good relationship for futures contract
