Make sure to review the grading rubric to understand how your work will be assessed.
Please answering the following questions, writing roughly 2 paragraphs for each:
1. Were there any common themes regarding the events that led "the American courtesans" into their profession? How does this compare to your preconceived notions of an escort or sex worker? What do you think your reaction would be if someone told you this was their profession?
2. Did the women in the documentary resemble your predetermined ideas of what an escort looks like or how they are portrayed in the media? What is it like to be an escort or sex worker, and what social stigma is attached to this profession? In what ways is the occupation rewarding? What are some risks and costs that come with this profession? Please include at least one APA style in-text citation to help strengthen your answer to this question. Note that including at least one in-text citation is a part of your grade.
3. Before watching the film, were you aware of this profession? How has this film affected your understanding and sense of treatment of prostitutes from the public, especially from the police? Do they feel safe in the current environment they work in? What can be done to improve this?
