ISSUE IDENTIFICATION
The article "Larry Nassar's Former Boss at Michigan State Faces Charges" highlights the nature of the situation at Michigan State University following the criminal sexual conducts of Dr. Larry Nassar and Dr. Strampel. The university is faced with lack of professionalism in the behaviors of some of its longest-serving employees (Smith, 2018). As an institution, Michigan State University is expected to uphold high levels of professionalism according to the ethics of service provision which in turn builds the integrity of the institution.
It is expected to apply international ethical standards when dealing with the students and its staff as a center of excellence determined to produce individuals who can transform the world into a better place. Professionalism and the integrity of the institution are in question with regards to sexual abuse on the girls and women conducted and perpetrated by some of the longest-serving professionals.
IDENTIFY TRIGGERING EVENT
The inability of the president of the institution to handle the cases followed by her resignation paved the way for the probing of the instances of sexual abuse that had continuously been raised by the students and other females. Under her watch, the management of the university had dismissed the reports of sexual assaults by Dr. Nassar. The interim president was capable of identifying the problem in six weeks after his appointment. He was determined to sweep out individuals who had been cited with allegations for reckless personal conduct in the institution after the case of Dr. Nasser that brought out the truth about the reports of sexual assaults on the female students.
The arrest of Dr. William marked the beginning of an era committed to ensuring that the students, faculty, and stuff including the members of the community are treated appropriately. The evidence found incriminating Dr. Nassar and Dr. William coupled with the resignation of the president of the institution served as the trigger of the event. The investigations got hold of a video of Dr. Larry and managed to establish that Strampel used his powers and office as the dean to harass, discriminate and sexually assault the female students. Every institution is obliged to provide security to every stakeholder concerning sex, discrimination, harassment, demeaning and extortion.
After the resignation of President Lou who could not handle the cases of sexual assault, John rose to power as an interim President and was capable of restoring the hopes of the affected individuals who were easy prey for the duo. The investigations were heightened, and they were able to determine that scores of young women had been sexually abused over the years of their service. Their exit and arrest were applauded by the lawyer representing more than 150 women standing in accusation of sexual assault by Dr. Nasser. The institution is therefore committed to ensuring the environment remains free of the sexual assaults as reiterated by the words presented to the media on the cooperation of the school with the investigators.
SOCIAL SIGNIFICANCE
The perpetrators of the sexual assaults, discrimination, demeaning acts and harassments are individuals who are deemed to lack respect for the social needs of others, and thus they hide behind their power to carry out the ill acts. If the school had continued with the same President, the issues would not have been handled, implying that the young women, the staff, the students, and, the Michigan State University community would still be at risk of these vices. The inability of the President to handle the issues portray her lack of expertise, and her resignation points out to the commitment towards a peaceful social life with the others. The reputation of the institution would be destroyed, and these activities would affect the proposition of students towards the courses offered in the institution. The interim President came in as a mediator between the affected group of individuals and their rights, comfort, and pride that they were deprived of by the two doctors. The women could now feel safe and valued in the institution within the department that was affected since the rot in the system had been eliminated hence their hope, and academic endeavors were no longer threatened to align them towards a better future. Sexual assault and the other vices spike different reactions across various social constructs making it a sensitive matter that should be handled with utmost care and professionalism to uphold the integrity of an institution.
ECONOMIC SIGNIFICANCE
The finances of the institution and that of the two doctors found guilty in this situation stand at risk since the student proposition and preference for the institution would drop signaling a drop in the finances. On the other hand, the two doctors risk losing their jobs as a result of lack of professionalism in their endeavors to provide services to the clients. The mention of the statement “Sexual Assault” in an institution of higher learning is scary enough to stir lack of interest amongst the affected sexes leave alone the fact that the acts get conducted by individuals who should be acting ethical and professional. The identification of the problem in time saves the school from losing students hence maintaining a high number of students and even attracting more since it is a demonstration that the school puts effort towards dealing with professional malpractices. The introduction of a philosophy aimed at flushing out an all-time problem at the institution attracts the attention of all individuals from walks of life hence availing more funds due to applications and investors in the form of organizations that work against sexual assaults and other evils in the education system (Abbott, & Wallace, 2016).
CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE
A higher institution of learning acts like an umbrella of all the cultures that are found in the world. In the University, like Michigan State University, the students come from across all walks of life to get their education in a harmonized system that teaches people how to be responsible adults. Some acts are tolerable and less unprofessional depending on the level of debates around them and their sensitivity. One thing for sure is, no culture tolerates or champions for sexual assault, discrimination and the perpetuation of demeaning acts in institutions of learning. Initially, the institution would not have dealt with these issues if the school culture would not have changed through the resignation of President Lou who was unable to handle the matters. The two, Dr. Nassar and Dr. Strampel became comfortable doing their dirty deeds because they had earned the trust of the previous administration leading to the development of a culture that only them knew anything about. Complains had been lodged against them and numerous reports submitted, but the administration did not act. The new management came in loaded with professionalism and ethics enabling the dominance of the neat cultures and doing away with the culture of sexual assault, discrimination, demeaning of non-performing students and utilization of “erotic and suggestive” words in class school.
MORAL SIGNIFICANCE
The purpose of education at the higher institutions of learning is to instill morals in someone despite the presence of freedom as opposed to other levels of learning. At the university, the student learns how to live like adults, respect one another, tolerate cultural differences and how to uphold high moral standards. It acts as a testing ground for the personality of a person, those who are not destined for success indulge in non-educational and unimportant issues while the focused ones pursue their dreams. The non-performance of the institution initially depicted its support for moral decadence in the school system perpetrated by the high-ranking individuals trusted by the management and believed to be morally upright. The two doctors used the opportunity presented to them by their occupations or the situation of the students to fuel the satisfaction of their selfish needs. Their arrest came as a sign of relief to the victims of their ill acts who supported the new administration and criticized the previous President who was incapable of handling the issues conducted right under her nose by her employees. Lou respected herself and felt the disgrace amidst criticism and ended up resigning paving the way for a better person to handle the issues she viewed as a those “above her pay grade.”
SAFETY SIGNIFICANCE
Parents entrust the lives of their children to the education system concerning all the aspects of life from instilling new knowledge, morality, upholding and conserving cultures, and security. The situation at Michigan State University before the resignation of President Lou depicts a system that paid attention to its valued employees and turned a silent ear on to the other stakeholders. The complaints about the occurrence of sexual assaults and discrimination are estimated to have lasted for more than 15 years in the institution. The perpetuation of these activities promulgates the reduction of confidence in the education system since it targets the weak students especially the ladies. It also highlights the aspects of lack of equality for both genders depicted in the sex of the employees being arrested in the excerpt. The arrest of Dr. William after Dr. Nassar restores the confidence of the girl child in the education system since security is prioritized and no one can take advantage of them anymore.
LEGAL SIGNIFICANCE
The law is actively utilized in the determination of the ethics of various activities. In this situation, most people stood for their rights and reported against the sexual assaults, discrimination and other negative activities perpetrated by the two doctors. After the arrest of Dr. William, the attorney general who was handling more than 150 cases of women pointing fingers at Dr. Nassar claiming that he had assaulted them reflected the commitment of the law towards dealing with injustices (Chavez, 2018). Law only becomes effective when the system works with it and relies on it for guidance, the lack of application the legal issues in a process highlights the carrying out of illegal activities. Sexual assault is one of the criminal offenses that are punishable by law, and the charge is hefty once it has been determined that the perpetrator is guilty.
Decision and Final Recommendations
The change of management in Michigan State University paved the way for the probing of the sexual assault cases that touched on the employees who enjoyed protection from the previous administration. The integrity and professionalism in which the matter has been handled depict the need to apply ethics in institutions that deal with individuals from different cultural, social and economic backgrounds.

PART 2: STAKEHOLDER RELATIONSHIPS:
Please identify TWO PAIRS of specific stakeholders.
Opposing interests/stakes: describe briefly how their interests conflict .
Opposing Stakes Pair: (The wall street Journal vs. Michigan State university administration)
Explain:
These are two stakeholders who really have divergent interest in this scenario. The Wall Street journal has the interest of ensuring that they divulge relevant information to the public. On the other hand, the Michigan University has the role of ensuring they conduct administrative roles to Michigan University. In reference to the gross misconduct case, the university administration may try to conceal such information while the wall street journal seeks to expose such information making their interest to totally be divergent. According to Mitchell, Agle and Wood (1997), they affirm that almost all organizations have stakeholders with conflicting interests.
Shared interests/stakes: describe their interests align.
Shared Stakes Pair: ( Michigan State University Students vs. Michigan State university Parents)
Explain;
This pair of stakeholders has interests that align. Freeman, et al, (2010) in their book argued that its always the responsibility of the parents and guardians to ensure that they children both biological and adopted one access education. In this argument, parents always send their children to school to gain educational skills. As the children gain educational skills they hope their children would be more successful and they ensure this by supporting them through payment of school fees.
