Native peoples, according to Richter, came in contact with “European things” before they saw “European people.” (p. 11) How were European items used and integrated into Native cultures? Be sure to provide at least three specific examples. Richter’s description of the use of copper on p. 43 is one example of this Q3 . Native and European uses of land were based in very different understandings of and relationships with the environment.
