Stroop research
Goals:
• To practice experimental design and thinking about possible confounding variables
• To gain experience performing literature reviews and reading and summarizing articles
• To lay a foundation for the introduction section of the upcoming full research report
• To prepare for data collection in lab next week
Instructions:
1) Make sure that your experimental design has been approved by your lab instructor
2) Use Google Scholar, PsychInfo or your search tool of choice to locate two research articles that you can use in the path of the introduction section for this Stroop experiment
3) Use the QuALMRI method to summarize the research being described in your two articles. For each article, answer the questions listed below. You can answer these questions in a new Word document, or you can use the Word template attached to this assignment if you’d like.
Use the questions below to guide your answers to instructions 3, and please answer each question in paragraph form (not partial sentences or bulleted lists). You do not need to include more than two or three sentences per article for most of these questions, and
Q1) Provide the references (in APA format) for your two papers:
Q2) What is the broad question being asked in each paper? What is the specific research question being asked?
Q3) What are the possible (alternative) answers that were considered by the authors?
Q4) What logic do the researchers use to differentiate between the alternatives listed above?
Q5) What procedures (methods) did the researchers use to implement their experiment? Be specific and include details about the levels of the independent variable(s), dependent variable(s), and other details of their study.
Q6) What were the experiments results for each paper?
Q7) What was learned?
