What change agent skills are necessary for helping a dysfunctional group become more effective?  What if problems exist between managers?  What happens if they refuse the help of the change agent?

If a dysfunctional group needs to be made more effective, the change agents should have the following set of skills:

• The change agent must be able to perform different kinds of team building activities.

• The change agent must be able to work in synchronization with the team leader. He must able to assist him or her in every aspects of team development such as facilitating team meeting, managing conflicts, problem solving and decision making, and establishing team roles and expectations.

• The change agent must be able to diagnose and understand the culture of the groups to whom the change activity is directed. The understanding will help in implementing the change strategy.

Do you believe it is important to acknowledge, understand, and value differences in your organization?  Explain.  How are you and your friends from culturally diverse backgrounds different?  How are you the same?

Firstly, definitely yes I do believe that it is important to acknowledge, understand, and value differences in my organization. This is because of the fact that the values have the eventual perception on the organization's management as far as meeting the set goals and objectives are concerned. Also that the values drive the motivation and momentum that is fostered for strong performance in the respective jobs of the workforce of the organization.

Secondly, I am different from my friends who have diverse backgrounds in that we are of different rationality in terms of how we make decisions regarding the perceptions on the jobs and and also the intrinsic abilities on the job valuation that is used for meeting a current need for the organization.

Thirdly, we are the same in that we harness the power of our cultural experiences and dimensions towards doing the best for the output of the organization and also about ourselves.

There are friends from different cultures that I have personally associated with. The people have different beliefs, norms, religious beliefs, are from different ethnic backgrounds and there are different stereotypes. Similarity arises from the fact that we both see the urge to interact and share some cultures and there are actually certain similar beliefs but cultural relativism is another issue.
