Module 4:  Satire Then and Today (Essay)

Instructions

1. Research the element of satire and criticism during the Enlightenment in the works of William Hogarth and Jonathan Swift. Study how they were able to use different media to spread their messages and take notes. Explore modern day satire and select two satirists that you consider important in the present. Explain why you think they are effective, and what elements and techniques they use. Compare your satirists from the Enlightenment with the modern-day ones. Analyze them in terms of effectiveness, audiences, creativity, and any other element you consider important. Do not include biographical information about your satirists. What is important is that you place them in context.

Be sure to review the  academic expectations  for your submission.

Submission Instructions:

· Submit your assignment by 11:59 p.m. ET on Sunday.

· Contribute a minimum of 2 pages. It should include at least 3 academic sources, formatted and cited in APA.

· Your final submission will have a cover page, two pages of the written essay, a page with images, and the reference list.

· In an extra page, you could include images appropriately credited in APA style.

· Review the rubric to determine how your assignment will be graded.

· Your assignment will be run through Turnitin to check for plagiarism. Please check your results, make any necessary corrections, and resubmit a revised copy if the system identifies issues.
