HUM 5010: Overview of Human Services

Instructor: Sharla Walker

May 18, 2021

I am pursuing my degree in human services degree with a concentration in Health Administration. When I decided on this career path, I was warned that it would be difficult. To gain experience in the sector where I want to work, I want to start in a low-level area or job. Many individuals do not want to work in the professional nursing and health care industry. I believe that determination, strong willingness, level-headedness, and understanding are essential skills in this area. Working in the skilled nursing health sector is not easy, but it is a demanding area that requires help. However, I want to be on the corporate level as a Director of Program Management in Human Services.

After researching skilled nursing health management, some of the work titles associated with it are program director, clinical care manager, executive director, director of skilled nursing administrator, and mental health clinical director, among others. Residents of anxiety disorders, mood disorders, eating disorders, impulse control disorders and personality disorders can be found in skilled nursing facilities.

Directors of program management of human services are in charge of their organization's administrative and day-to-day activities in human service departments. Their responsibilities include coordinating the staff required for a project's life cycle, ensuring employees' professional behavior in all interactions with customers, third parties, and other employees, and ensuring sales and expenditure targets are met. They also help develop program management plans and budgets, monitor employee progress (including those in off-site offices), and delegate responsibilities to employees and third parties assigned to a program. All the degree criteria are master's level, which makes sense. It also stated that various facilities could have varying standards of instruction, licensure, and qualification criteria. In May 2021, the average salary for a Director of Program Management of Human Services $64,618. I want to engage in conversation with the elderly. When I was growing up, I never saw or heard of the elderly being given the resources they required to help. These are the years that form a child's or teenager's development into an adult. Human service staff should continue to concentrate on these specific age groups because they lack the necessary resources. They must comprehend what they are experiencing. I want to help those who require assistance, education, and care but are unaware of what their bodies are going through.

I am ecstatic to help those who are in need. However, I am terrified; while this world has always piqued my interest, I have never had the opportunity to meet someone who has a severe mental illness up close and personal. We must all learn from somewhere when we begin a profession or a career. As I previously mentioned, I would like to begin my career in an area where I can gain experience before pursuing a Director. Since I want to be the best in my field, I will always double-check that I am eligible for a job before accepting it.
