Do the right thing is a movie that was filmed in the year 1989. It is a movie based on the racial inequality among the African American community during the hottest day of the summer. Among the themes in the movie is racism which has been detailed. This comedy-drama movie explores how the racial discrimination/inequality drove towards the conflict among the African- American people. In the movie, killings of the black people by the American have been spotted to be the biggest racism in the film. The killings of the characters in the movie reflect to high level of inhumanity towards the black people as well as racism between the two communities. The black and the Americans were enemies and degraded each other due to the color of their skin.

This film’s genre is comedy-drama which was produced by Spike Lee. The story of the film reflects to the Brooklyn neighbors who simmers the racial tension among the African American and the Italian American residents. The racism among them culminates towards the tragedy and violence on the hot summer. The film actions to address the racism was highly appreciated by the people as the act of racism was rising and causing distress among the people (Jones, 2020). This film was then awarded by the academy awards as the best film of that time. It was later in the year 1999 deemed as historically, culturally, and aesthetically significant and was chosen by the Library of Congress for the purpose of preservation in the national film registry.

From the movie, it is very clear that the issue of race discrimination is real and has very severe results. The inhumane killing of the people in the movie due to their race calls for a quick action. And Infact, the movie can be termed to be a reflection of what is happening in the current world. Previously, so many cases of racism among the Americans and the Black Americans in the Unites States have been observed. Black people being treated unfairly and some getting killed is not only a bad thing but also a very unfair treatment to the people. We all need fair treatment and disguise the race discrimination.

The results of the discrimination led to the development and creation of a movement that would end all the suffering. We have had a movement aimed at easing the race discrimination among the black and the whites. The movement Black Lives Matter have been of help as people are adjusting and now respecting the rights of the people. I believe that the film is very significant in todays world as it is a reflection of what the world is like. Despite that the film is against racism, it does not offer for advice as to what people should do to end racism. However, it leaves thee viewers in a position where they should learn and know what is the right thing to do as they solve the issues that arise between them. Let not the color of the skin lead to negative impacts in the lives of the people.

To summarize the film “Do the right thing” Racism is discouraged. The title of the movie is all advising the people on what to do. They should always do the right thing and avoid the conflicts and the misunderstandings that rise between the people. Though people are meant to make mistakes as there in no perfect person, they should be guided to always doing the right thing. This is all demonstrated in the film as the Black and American are racist and deaths resulting from the race discrimination. Some scenes in the movie like that of the killing of Radio Raheem an actor in the film demonstrate racism. The character was killed and protest began to question the killing. The protest chose to question whether it was right to choose violence among the people rather than peace which led to the death of Raheem.

The development of the movie uses real character. This movie uses the stop trick type of special effect. In the movie, you will observe an appearance and disappearance through altering the selected aspects between the shots while still maintaining the same framing and other aspects. The sound effect of the movie is on point. The sound is audible and very clear as the viewers can clearly hear. The flow of the movie is swift demonstrating a good editing process of the movie during creation. Just watching the movie will make you will the best work done during the creation of the movie. It gives a better scopophilia to the viewers.
