Hello,I am Robby Cottrell and my own personal experiences with a creative process involve planning by drafting possible ideas to the project I am working on.
I use a series of steps that I repeat every time that I need to create something. For example when I am working on policies at work I start by reading the policy. Then I find comparison policies and read them. I then focus on what will work best for our agency and use the best practices to develop a draft. I then send this to other colleagues to get their input and thoughts about the written draft. For me this system works as I am able to network with other agencies to formulate the best policy.
I chose School of Rock as my film selection I believe it gave some real pointers as to what learning experiences look like. Has anyone ever had the experience of having to help draw out another persons talent by building up their confidence?

My name is David Bowden. I have a wife and three kids. I work for US government as an Active duty service member. As the reading suggestes (Chap 8 Thinking Criticalliy) there is not to much room for "creative" thinking in the military. It breeds more of a "do as your told" mentality. However i was raised by a woman who provided for me solely based off of her ability to create/imagine. Her ability to make jewelery, clothes and other accessories put food on my plate for 18 years. Now some of that did rub off and i appsolutely love to paint and express myself in "non-conservative" ways. Having kids has opened up a whole new avenue of being creative just out of necessity. To keep my sanity i must find new ways to occupy my kids so I dont lose my mind.
Speaking of kids, i choose to watch School of Rock. One of the reasons being to occupy my kids but also, I love music. Rock is very near and dear to my heart being a drummer. I' am currently trying to get my kids to play piano and violen. Naturally the movie was a good choice because it has inspired my 9 year old son to pick the guitar again and play. Now one thing that i thought to be controversial was the idea of "sticking it to the man". I understand that is what Rock is all about but how far do you take it? For society to work, you must have rules. There must be structure or it will be total anarchy.

Rossana's response to Unit 1 Discussion Board Question
Top of Form
Hello everyone,
My name is Rossana Champagne I am currently attending Waldorf University to finish up my degree in Clinical Psychology. Outside of taking my courses to complete my degree, I chose to leave the medical field of 9 years to learn what makes me happy. I felt burned out from working in the medical field and I couldn't be any happier working at my friends coffee shop. I enjoy outdoor activities, such as fishing with a friend and learning about our local wildlife. I also enjoy painting and drawing and just learning about new things that makes me feel great.
I think the seven dimensions of wellness will help me improve, not only academically, but within my personal life. Utilizing the seven dimensions of wellness will help keep one on the "right" track in all avenues in life when applied correctly. I think this will be a positive impact by teaching me to think critically by asking myself questions that apply to the seven dimensions. Although I already do apply a couple, I think learning more about it and trying out by applying it, can teach me to be a better person as well as a healthier person in life. I hope that I learn a lot in this course and it will be something I can utilize through out life. I wish everyone luck on their endeavors.

Hello All,
My name is Kristina Felix-Tuu'u. I go by Kris. Currently, I am completing my undergraduate in Psychology with a concentration in Criminal Justice. At the moment I am a HR Clerk for a mental health center in a small town in Colorado. Originally, I was born and raised in Southern California. Shortly after high school I decided to move to Montana for several years before moving to Colorado. I have found myself at a point in my life where I have tossed my carefully thought out career/life plan to the wind and just gone with the flow. For as long as I can remember, I was very dedicated to pursuing a career in law enforcement. Instead, I am enjoying my life with my fiancé running a small-scale feedlot and embracing the country life. In my down-time you will find me appreciating the outdoors, messing with cattle, running, reading, and baking.
The seven dimensions of wellness impact my life daily. I think in my current occupation I work to maintain healthy relationships, create a mutually satisfying work environment, and preserve my emotional and physical health. At first glance, I think people may overlook the seven dimensions since they do seem like obvious personal and professional practices. I know that I am guilty of telling myself I have all my ducks in a row without truly examining the individual sectors in my world. In my opinion, these dimensions are a great way to really promote leading a self-aware and satisfying life while encouraging overall happiness. Personally, I believe I could do better and need to be more intentional about reflecting on how I can create happier healthier relationships and perspectives in my life. I think it is a great topic for to start off the course and to try and get “balanced” before continuing my education. Excited to meet you all.

Week 7 Discussion

Hello everyone,
In my on line research i found that each type of graph has its own purpose. A pie chart is used to show different values at a particular point in time. A bar graph is used to show changes in values of multiple groups while line graphs are used to show value comparisons or trends over a period of time. I could personally see using bar graphs in the future to show unit section purchases of a year to show which sections spends the most during each part of the year. I could probably use a line graph too, this would make it easier to compare the peaks.

Excel Charts

I would decide which to use based on what I need to plot. If is has to do with how much of a whole thing, a pie chart is what I would use. Alternatively, if I needed to plot changes, over time, I would use a line graph. As for how I would use each in my career, I could use a line graph to determine how items are selling over time; while I could use a pie chart to determine which of those are more popular.

How Do I respond to This?

Diversity training for the workplace may at first seem confusing or unnecessary, but it can be the start of many positive things for a business. Diversity training shows workplace leaders what their responsibilities are toward their employees, so they are less likely to violate rules about discrimination or bias toward certain groups. We are all raised with different morals and traditions. To someone else you may not work as hard as they do so let's be mindful of people and their cultures.

Week 7: How Do I Respond to This?
Top of Form
Thank you for your post. I do believe that diversity goes far beyond someone’s work ethics. I believe that real message in this training is to open our minds to respecting everyone. As far as people that you work with that you believe are not putting in the correct amount of effort at work, I Believe that this could be for a few different reasons. For one, they could just be lazy. That has nothing to do with one’s culture. That is a personal issue and a talk with your supervisor might help the situation if they are made aware. I would actually speak to them without being upset but instead with an open mind. Some people are dealing with issues in their life or might just be uncomfortable their selves in the workplace. Understanding someone’s strengths and weakness will help in future work-related task.
