Name the program : The CMCA Project

Where is/was the program: It is in different 15 communities in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.

Specific Target population/sample used for program evaluation: The target population is underage youth

Description: This intervention includes 5 components of the project. These components dealt with the following issues, community policies, community practices, youth alcohol access, youth alcohol consumption, and youth alcohol problems. They used locals to help with this process by having underage decoys monitor alcohol sells at local outlets.

· Easy alcohol access

Effectiveness of action being taken (program evaluation) This project was very effective compared to other communities the communities that had CMCA had reductions in the number of DUI arrest between the ages of 18-21. The number of 18-20-year old’s trying to by alcohol went down. The number of consumers selling alcohol to underage teenagers also decreases.

· “These measures included underage decoy operations with alcohol outlets, citizen monitoring of outlets selling to youth, keg registration, alcohol-free events for youth, policy action to shorten hours of sale for alcohol, responsible beverage service training programs, and educational programs for youth and adults.”
